I had been wanting this guitar for years and was sorely let down when it came with a poorly installed headstock nut. I expected better from Epiphone. The guitar is going to be awesome once I get a replacement that someone properly inspected before sending out, but very frustrating to wait for delivery just to have to immediately return. I would love to tell you how it played but now I must deal with the headache that I paid for and wait!

Great guitar from practice - gigs

I created a kit guitar of this 10 years ago hoping someday an affordable version came out. My kit guitar was fun and sounded pretty good, but WOW, this DG335 is awesome, big neck works for me, sounds great and is a great addition to the collection. I was increasingly impressed as it acclimated to its surroundings!

I've avoided Epiphone guitars in the past due to some quality control concerns, so I was a little hesitant to make the leap for the DG-335. However I wasn't about to fork over the money for the Gibson version which is limited run and nearly impossible to find, so I decided to take the plunge and order the Epiphone DG-335 after reading some great reviews. The guitar arrived today with a beat up box, which was my first sign of trouble. Opening the case everything seemed to be in one piece, phew. Tuned her up and strummed a few chords. Immediately I noticed a couple wonky frets. The first fret especially is noticeably lifted off the fretboard, I could slide a pick under there. In general the fretwork looked sloppy with rough edges and lots of cloth caught in spots from whoever did the final "polish." The second thing I noticed was that the guitar had 3 tone knobs and 1 volume knob. Whoops. I'm also not the biggest fan of the pickups, even though they're USA Gibson pickups. I know that is completely subjective and to each his own, but the bridge pickup especially just seemed a little thin and lacked some of the thump that my Les Paul 61 Burstbuckers have. That's a swap I can make in the future though. Overall I really wanted to like this guitar. I still may keep it once I can get the "warranty" work completed to fix the fret and knob issues, and I think it will end up being a fun guitar to add to the mix once it's all setup and running smoothly. But just be warned, this a huge back order on these and I suspect the Epiphone factory in China is rushing these out, with quality control lacking. Take a close look at yours once you get it!
