Wow.
I orginally saw this pedal on the Dave Navarro guitar dvd. I had to get this pedal. I'm glad I did, this thing is sick. I use it on my Fender Super Champ tube amp, and when its on drive with the dirty channel, I'm ready to blow the windows out. Your guitar sounds out of this world when you use this. It's so worth the cost. Get it and you won't put it down.

BOSS Octave Review
This is the first Octave pedal Ive ever owned. My first thoughts when I played trough this pedal was that it must be defective. The sound was not what I thought it was going to be. It made my 2000 Fender Fat Strat sound like a cheap knock off guitar. I played it though a fender Deville 212 with no other effects. The pedal had a real digital sound to it and it. The low end got really muddy sounding. Try it out at a shop before you buy.

I don't get some of these reviews, honestly. First of all, the Boss OC-3 is like 3 pedals in one. Drive mode gives you fuzz-like octave distortion where you can dial in as much or as little of the octave and drive. The original OC-2 mode gives you that glitchy warbling octave and sub octave sound. Single notes are stable. But the tracking gets glitchy when you play multiple notes. That's the original design, it's not a bad thing. Enter mode 3: poly. Gives you one octave below with a selectable range. So let's say you want to play rhythm and have your low end sound beefier without altering your higher notes... done. I've yet to see any other pedal that does that. As for me, I set it AFTER my dirt pedals and have no issues with tracking. Also, no click or hiss when engaged.

I bought an open box unit. It performed so poorly that I think it was a unit failure. The octave below would only sound when I played notes between low G and low C on my guitar. No matter what setting I chose it only rarely sounded the octave pitch if I played above low C or below low G. Even between G and C it was unreliable. I tried my acoustic classical guitar and my electric; same thing; I changed the battery, I tried a power supply; same thing. This pedal was unusable under any circumstance. Boss pedals are great and I have total confidence in Boss. That's why I think this unit was defective. Give it a try only if you've got a good return policy.

The instructions say to use only the Boss PSA-Series AC Adapter (9V). Is it really necessary to use the Boss adapter? Any reason why something like a Donner tip-negative DPA-1 Regulated AC-DC Adapter wouldn't work?
Any 9V adapter will work with this pedal
