Okay, so I had my eye on a Akai 88MkIi on reverb. Coming from a keyboard the thought of a "Computer" based keyboard was intriguing to me. My guitar rig uses MIDI but this was a whole different approach for me personally. Thanks to Instagram and it's the ability to spy on my web searches or whatever. It knew I was looking at the Akai and even would try to convince me to view videos of people who used Keyboard controllers. Well, it worked. I stumbled by a group called "Hannie" Hannah the keyboardist of the group was using all of the keyboards I wanted to buy and she kept using the Keylab 61 and I was blown away at what she could do with it. I was hooked and watched her videos over and over again. Which me up to pull the trigger right on the Keylab MkII before Christmas. I love the feel and the keys and was concerned about the quality as there was no guitar center near me that had this on display only the MKI. It's worth the money - the software that it comes with is AMAZING the piano software is fantastic. I had a Yamaha 901 that was like 10 x more expensive than this. Feel of the keyboard feels solid and the "fake" wood on the side is still a cool touch. The main software I use is Garage Band and it came with Abelton Lite which for me is all I need. I'm not doing Live Looping but it does help me "practice" and create some melodies that send me down a rabbit hole of creativity. Which is why I purchased this. I still plan on purchasing a Nord Stage 3. This is not a replacement for anything like that. I may even get a Korg Minilogue. But this definitely scratches the itch.
