Blackstar ID Core Digital Stereo Combo Amp

ID:CORE V2 represents the culmination of more than nine years’ technical Research and Development. These amps have an intuitive control set like a traditional amp, but have the versatility of programmability. The unique controls allow you, the guitarist, to custom design your own sound. The unique and enhanced Voice control has six different channels — Clean Warm, Clean Bright, Crunch, Super Crunch, OD 1, OD 2. When used together with Blackstar's patented ISF control you can get the exact tone you're thinking of. The effects section delivers studio quality modulation, delay and reverb effects simultaneously that you can store with your sound.
Deep editing and storing of patches is simple using the Blackstar INSIDER software. Patches can be shared, uploaded and downloaded via the online community. The USB connector also allows you to record from your amp directly to your computer; new USB 2.0 functionality makes for easier recording and reamping, plus the ability to record just the preamp out for adding your own effects and cabinet emulation in the DAW/post-processing. An emulated output, MP3/line input and inbuilt panel-accessible tuner complete the package.
By using the unique Voice control and the patented ISF, ID:CORE Series amplifiers allow unparalleled flexibility and ease of use, enabling you to design the sound in your head and deliver it at home, in the studio or in rehearsal.

Perfect Home Practice/Jamming Solution, Beginner or Advanced
Purchased from Guitar Center, Birmingham AL for $99.99 plus tax. Just around 15 years ago, I started out playing the electric guitar with a 30-watt Crate solid-state amplifier bought for around $150. I quickly moved on and got rid of that terrible amplifier, moving on to a tube combo as soon as money would allow. I would guess most guitarists have shared similar experiences, but times are clearly changing - I don't see any beginner outgrowing the Core 10 V2 quickly. There's also plenty to like for more advanced players, as well. The build quality is more than adequate for it's intended purpose. This is absolutely not a gig-worthy amplifier in terms of volume output, but the cabinet feels reasonably sturdy and likely to survive a fair share of bumps and scuffs. It remains very light as well - I would guess ten pounds or less. Don't be fooled by the diminutive size, the two 3" speakers put out an impressive amount of bass. There's a distinctly hi-fi sound to the Core 10, leading to a noticeable brightness of tone not present in comparable 1x8" combo practice amps. Not only do all of the models sound excellent at sub-conversation volumes, the effects sound very spacious and rich. The interface is intuitive and blessedly simple. The "ISF" tone knob makes it virtually impossible to dial in a bad sound, although I found it a bit boomy at 3 o'clock or higher. Blackstar advertises that the Core can be connected to a Mac or PC as a recording / re-amping interface. No USB cable is included, and once I rustled up one and installed the "Insider" software for recording and deeper editing, I was unable to get the amp to connect. I'm using Windows 10 on a fairly high-spec computer. Not knocking a star off because I already have an interface and DAW and don't necessarily need this feature, but it's something to be aware of for potential buyers. All in all, a phenomenally great-sounding practice amp at a stupidly low price. Anyone should have one of these in their collection.

Good little practice amp.
The sound quality of this amp is pretty good for such a low priced, solid state amplifier. I moved into a condo, and out of respect for my neighbors, I bought this little amp. There are allot of choices out there for inexpensive practice amps but, this one had most of what I wanted, and is really quite small. It sounds good at low volumes, has 6 channels, plenty of modulation, delay and reverb effects, and a usb for hooking it up to my laptop. It comes with 6 sound settings pre-programmed into it, but you can easily overwrite them with your own patches. Unfortunately, you can only save one patch for each channel. Most players I know will use 2 or 3 channels 90% of the time, depending on what type of music they specialize in. It would be nice to have more than one set of presets for the channels you use most. The line out, and aux input are indespensable on a practice amp, and this one has them. Also, the usb connection allows you to use recording software, and interface with Blackstar's Insider software. Unfortunately, the Insider software feels more like a smartphone app, than a fully functional software program. There is a flaw in the current version that Blackstar says they're working on. The flaw is that the metronome, and audio playback portions of the software don't work when you have the usb connected to the amp through the usb. Therefore, you can't use the patches stored on your laptop/ workstation while practicing using the metronome, or learning licks with the playback function of the software. Insider does allow you to slow down tracks without changing pitch, which is great for learning fast, and complicated pieces. The amp also comes with recording software called Studio One. This software is also flawed. I have a brand new laptop (got it a week before the amp.) When I try to record my guitar, I can't hear anything. I tried a different sound driver to no avail. Overall, I am satisfied with this amp as a low priced, practice amp.

Can't get it to power up consistently, then it stopped altogether. Put in new fuse but still no power.

So far it a great little amp. The tuner is a little funky till you get use to it . Also makes a nice portable speaker for playing music off my phone.
Awesome starter amp, great benefits for the money!

Is it just one amp or does it come in a pair? What about this amp is the combo?
This is one amp. The combo refers to the speaker plus head/controls in one amp.
