Description
Beyerdynamic DT-770 STUDIO headphones are the definition of “industry standard.” The DT-770 has been the closed-back headphone of choice for world-class studios for over 30 years. Handmade in Germany for professional tracking, these are some serious cans with high isolation, huge bass and crisp highs. They’re one of Guitar Center’s go-to recommendations for studio professionals.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 STUDIO Headphones Main Features

  • 80-ohm studio reference headphones for clear tracking
  • Uncompromising build quality
  • Wide frequency response and 96 dB SPL
  • Engineered for comfort and durability

High Impedance Headphones Optimized for the Studio

Among the DT-770 PRO series of headphones, the 80-ohm model has become the go-to option for recording engineers, producers and players. That’s why Beyerdynamic created this DT-770 STUDIO version. It’s identical to the 80-ohm DT-770 PRO, just renamed to acknowledge its common usage in world-class recording studios. Beyerdynamic invented the dynamic headphone generations ago. After decades of refinement, this is their choice for studio work in any genre.

Handmade in Germany

High-end recording equipment is built with extreme precision. The same should go for studio monitoring headphones. Beyerdynamic makes every DT-770 by hand in their German factory. Put them on, and the difference becomes clear. These headphones are optimized for the perfect fit, weight distribution and sound isolation. They cut no corners with the electronic components, either. That’s how Beyerdynamic keeps its sterling reputation among professionals.

The Right Frequency Response and Loudness for Recording

The specs of the DT-770 STUDIO are impressive. They cover a frequency range of 5 Hz to 35 kHz, with a max sound pressure level of 96. But who wants to look at specs when they’re recording? What really matters is how well they work in practice. These headphones are renowned for their precision at any volume. From quiet, punchy lows to screeching highs, DT-770s emit exactly what’s on tape, no more, no less.

Rugged Headphones for the Long Haul

Beyerdynamic believes you should only have to buy your DT-770s once. (Well, unless you want a second pair.) That’s why they build them with replaceable components, all of which they also craft themselves in Germany. So, if the ear cups wear out, you can replace them, not the whole pair.

This improved my music! Better than expected.

My last set of Audio Technicas died. I read lots of review and for my price range (about $200) these kept showing up. I went to GC (thank you GC for being open, being clean, and the great service) and tried these and several others that got excellent reviews and were in the price range. These won for comfort and the most honest representation of the audio source. These have honestly made my mixes better. They were the most comfortable set of phones I tried. I wish the cord was detachable. I wish the cord was coiled. I wish they came with a hard shell case. Bottom line... Beyerdynamic delivered on comfort and sound with the DT 770s. For the price i can understand things have to be prioritized. They prioritized the right things. The results is better/quicker mixes that translate well to a wide range listening sources. HIGHLY recommend these phones for anyone shopping this price range that doesn't absolutely need a coiled or detachable cord.

Not for me

I bought these because they are highly recommended on a number of trusted sites and forums - so it should be noted that my opinion of them may not reflect the larger community's. But for me, I found them to be way too hyped in the highs, too tight, heavy and bulky. They also have too much room for the ears, and I felt like my ears were in a well. I understand the concept of that - to not have the inside of the earpads touch the ears, but it just feels really strange to me. The build quality seems good, but I think they could pair these down quite a bit, cut some of the fat and get the weight down - also loosen up the headband so it's not so tight, or perhaps have some kind of adjustment for that. In the end, I could tell right away that I wouldn't be able to wear these for long without being uncomfortable, and the highs were just too much for me. Will keep an eye on the company though, I'm willing to check out future generation models.

These headphones at 80ohms may need a hp-amp, they do not get as loud without one. Also the cord doesn't detach... But other than this they have a nice stereo image. Decent for balancing and mixing in studio.

  • Great sound, great comfort

Check first which version works best with your system, the 32, 80 or 250 ohm. This will make a difference in their performance. They sound great, block out most of the sound leaks while recording, and super comfortable !

  • Comfortable and clear!

These cans are used in a home recording studio. I don't need to stress how important sound quality is in this situation, and the DT 770's really deliver. They come highly recommended by others, and I will just add my voice to them.

  • Not bad. Not for singers though

I think these are worth the price, but not a penny over that. If you want amazing , and mind blowing you will need to spend alot more. I do like them and the sound is fairly neutral, which is good for mixing. Downfall is you cant use these to record vocals, the sound billows out of the beautiful velour ear pads. It will be no secret what you're listening too from anyone in a 10 ft radius. They are comfortable, and attractive. I have a xlarge head and big ears and they fit like a glove, my 10 yr old tried them on and they were floating and falling off, so maybe not the best for a small head. Also would of been cool if the cable was detachable, that aspect feels cheap.

  • These headphones are used by professionals for a reason.

I use these headphones with my Macbook Air and Logic Pro to produce music, both electronic and other. The sound is detailed and rich. What I hear on my final mix sounds great in cars and on nice speaker systems. The plush padding around your ears is like having a comforter on your cheeks! I can wear them for hours! The chord is long which is quite useful for times when I'm tracking in live instruments. A removable chord could be a nice feature to add in the future, but that's more of a thought than a complaint.
