We have the full 16 channel Aviom system running through our Yamaha LS9 digital mixing board. We couldn't afford another Aviom mixer at the time so we bought the MA400 as a temporary solution for our auxiliary percussionist. You can't get to excited about old technology but we are pleased with the results and our percussionist is happy and thats what counts. The mic loop-thru feature is nice.

We picked this up for our drummer to use so he can route our backing tracks to FOH at shows and have a click track for himself. The amp itself is well made with a steel casing and very small, which was awesome for portability. The separate inputs with separate volume controls is great and is exactly what we needed. The only downside is that the amplifier is not very strong. The click track we have in or backing track is nearly unheard when he is playing at full volume. A stand alone metronome is much more able to be heard through microphones. The amp itself is a great little piece of equipment, just not for the use we were wanting to utilize it for.

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

This Headphone amp is exactly what I was looking for. I use it with headphones to practice quietly, and also to run in ear monitors while playing. For the price you can't beat it.

Not an AMP

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

OK, I tried to send a review but it looks like it was trashed(deleted) as I do not see it in the reviews. NO it was not nice. This item does not amplified it attenuates. a 0 level on the Mon is muted and a 10 equals the imput (NO AMPLIFICATION), usless. The first report had more details but as this one will also be trashed I just saved my fingers the time.

Great buy!!!

By Oscar Zeno

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

I got this amp a few weeks ago, and it really works. Before I got this product, I was not able to hear a lot specially my bass player, wich play a a very important role with the drummer. After we connected it to the console and set it up, Im able to hear and control everything I want. The microphone plug in option is great, I did not have a TRS cable, but the microphone cable works as great as the TRS. Im very happy with my purchase, great option for a drummer or percussionist. I strongly recomend this product.

Lacks power

By ANDREW FULTON

from Ephrata PA

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

The price makes this product very tempting and it does what claims to do. However, it lacks power in the line-in port and is difficult to hear even with the volume levels at maximum. In certain applications Im sure it works very well but not in all.

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

I'm using this between a non-amplified tv audio out and Bose headphones. Makes an excellent volume amp. Has 1/4" input (I'm using a 3.5 to 1/4 adapter) and both 1/4" and 3.5mm out jacks. Needs an AC source for included plug but that is no prob.

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

I'm using this in place of a failing headphone jack on a digital piano, via the line out. I like the versatility for other uses down the road, whatever those may be. Only con is it could use a little more gain. Volume level is comfortable for every day, but only that. I've been satisfied with Behringer many time before. This unit is very handy and very good.

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

I make recordings of myself playing flute along with backing tracks, or I create duets playing both parts myself. In using my audio interface (Steinberg UR44) I found it difficult to hear my own playing along with the track while using the built-in monitor for headphones.

My solution was to buy this Micromon headphone amp. I like the microphone pass through function combined with the monitoring of the interface output. It worked great, and I was able to create a nice duet using this headphone amp. It works exactly as described and I have no complaints.

The comment has been made in other reviews that the amplification of the live microphone is not loud enough, and I can see how that could be true if you are a drummer. But if this pass through part of the amp could go much louder, it would probably be doing damage to your hearing (assuming you've got the output from the DAW and interface up to max). It's more than perfect for home studio with vocals or acoustic instrumentation.

I literally could not have done as good a job with the recordings I am now making if I did not use this headphone monitor. The DAW I use is Cubase, and the UR44 just does not have the monitoring output volume you need in your headphones. I've seen that complaint on Steinberg forums, but this little Micromon headphone amp makes those complaints a moot point.

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

As a drummer, I wanted to have an affordable way to have a monitor during gigs. Wedge monitors aren't always reliable for large stages. With the MA, I'm able to hear everyone much better! I just put an XLR or line cable from the wedge monitor (or even disconnect the monitor all together and plug directly) going to one of 2 inputs of this little unit, put in my headphones and I have my own in-ear monitor! I can even plug a separate input for clicks. Each input has their own volume knob so I can really adjust what I want to hear more! This device may not be good for musicians that move around since it's not wireless but it's perfect for a drummer. Made from steel construction and lightweight, not to mention that it's priced less than $30, the MA400 is a great tool for musicians (drummers in particular) on stage and recordings! Great buy and highly recommended!

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

The stage is already loud enough without monitors. I'm a drummer, and I try to protect my hearing. This lets me block stage noise, while allowing me to hear the monitors at any level I choose. AND, I can add as much of my own microphone as I require to hear myself. More me!
Very small. Lightweight. Looks cool. Sounds great. Plenty of gain.

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

We use these for our lead vocalists. they do what they are supposed to. my only complaint is i wish there was a trim or a PAD if you decide to use a guitar or Keyboard through it. my keyboard and POD clip real bad. it can be used for an instrument but you have to fiddle with the master volume on your instrument to find a place it doesn't distort in the Head phones, and then set the level on the board. If you use them with mics for vocals or even Brass/wood winds they are fine.

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

This is an awesome device, and it works beautifully. It's basically a pre-amp with some awesome features. It adds no electrostatic noises to all outputs, and provides clean amplification for my microphone. I use this to listen to myself sing to music from MP3 player, as a pre-amp, mixer, and/or 0 latency monitoring device to my computer, Stand alone microphone amp/monitor while I sing in my car and at home, and to easily add vocals to an instrumental. TL:DR High quality, no electrostatic noise, ability to mix 2 inputs, give yourself an independent boost while monitoring, Monitor yourself with headphones
