Behringer

Description

The Behringer DeepMind 6 puts the limitless potential of a true analog polysynth engine at your fingertips. With 37 semi-weighted, velocity-sensitive keys, it encourages expressive playing for stage and studio. Its 6-voice architecture generates rich, evolving textures. The DeepMind 6 has a modulation matrix that lets you sculpt sounds, plus built-in effects like chorus, delay and reverb. Use the 32-step sequencer and arpeggiator to ignite your creativity. Control external MIDI gear from the DeepMind 6 interface.

Craft Complex Textures With Six Analog Voices

At the heart of the DeepMind six is a powerful analog polysynth engine. It utilizes digitally controlled oscillators for excellent tuning stability. With 6 voices to shape as you desire, craft evolving pads, leads, basses and more. Let your imagination run wild as you explore its creative potential. The analog signal path brings fluid, organic qualities. With dedicated oscillators, filters, envelopes and LFOs per voice, you have serious sound design flexibility.

Perform Expressively on 37 Semi-Weighted Keys

The DeepMind 6 keyboard has a synth-action feel with 37 keys spanning a 3-octave range. With velocity and aftertouch sensitivity, you can infuse emotion as you play. The semi-weighted keys offer playable resistance. Perform solos with finesse, whip up funky riffs or lay down a steady bassline. The keys respond dynamically to every nuance. Whether you're playing live or tracking parts in the studio, the keyboard promotes inspired performances.

Sculpt Sounds With the Modulation Matrix

Get creative with the DeepMind 6's modulation matrix. It opens up many options for morphing sounds over time. You can route any modulation source, like the LFOs or envelopes, to multiple destinations. Modulate filter cutoff for wah effects, vary amplitude for tremolo, blend between waveforms and more. The matrix is easy to use yet immensely powerful. The DeepMind 6 comes equipped with an array of digital effects to add polish, space and interest. Dial in the perfect amount of chorus to fatten up leads. Create cascading echoes with the stereo delay. Immerse yourself in the smooth hall, room and plate reverbs. Use the compressor to balance dynamics. With the 4-band EQ, you can sculpt the tonal balance. Add grit and edge with distortion. With these tools, you can put the finishing touches on your sounds before sending them to the outputs.

Jam and Compose With the Sequencer and Arpeggiator

When you need some extra inspiration, put the DeepMind 6's 32-step sequencer and arpeggiator to work. Program punchy basslines, animated leads and bubbling arpeggios. Sync them to your DAW or drum machine's tempo. Tweak the parameters in real time for organic variation. Capture happy accidents and seamlessly integrate them into your tracks. The tools provide launching points to jam on and loop into songs. Save your sequences and arpeggios for later use. With the sequencer and arpeggiator, you'll have new ideas at your fingertips.

Control External MIDI Gear From One Interface

The DeepMind 6 doesn't just generate its own sounds—it can also control your external MIDI devices. Connect synths, drum machines, samplers and more to the MIDI out. Then route sequencer tracks and control signals to play those instruments. This saves you time switching between interfaces and keyboards. Mix and match the DeepMind 6's analog engine with your other tone generators. Create layered sounds and complex rhythmic interplay between machines. The DeepMind 6 integrates everything into one creative hub.

  • My first analog synth, and it is amazing!

I can't tell you how much fun I am having learning how to use this impressive piece of technology. It really allows me to learn about the essentials of using a fully analog synth, but has massive versatility, as well as great sound. Compare it feature for feature, and I think that this will give anything in the same price bracket a run for its running. My sole complaint is that the documentation is a little hard to work through. I've used some videos to get the basic principles, but a straightforward tutorial of how to create a sound from scratch would go a long way.

I added this to my instrumentation at Reiver Records' studio. I needed a polyphonic synth as I already have a monophonic and an extra soft-synth. I was originally going to get a Prophet but the DeepMind was cost-affective. I'm really glad I made this choice!

Although there are some things to like about this board, I can't recommend it. And will probably return it. First, the sounds: Yes, there are many "interesting" sounds, which may be quite useful for sound effects, incidental music, etc. But out of more than 1,000 sounds, there are only a handful that are "musical" or sounds that I can place in the context of "songs." That's not much of a recommendation. Thankfully, the editing possibilities are extensive, making for at least the Possibility of creating good sounds. Then there's the unit itself. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that it has a NOISY FAN! Maybe Behringer fell asleep in the 1990s. We don't have noisy fans anymore, certainly not in music gear that requires us to listen to the SOUNDS. What were they thinking? This alone is a deal-breaker for me. I'm surrounded by keyboards, and the only one I hear growling at me is this thing. It's gotta go.

  • Enjoy the possibilities; ignore the bashers

I took the plunge, ignoring the brand-bashers and am enjoying myself thoroughly! Behr has put a lot of effort into a new product (like Arturia before them), and their deep programming shows. Very extensive modulation capacity reminds me of the DSI Mopho; though the sound is all its own. Do NOT be thrown off by its limitations: Square/saw on osc1, and square w/waveshaper and noise on osc2 still give you an extensive palette to work with. That, and the large amount of FX (with multiple routings) gives a sound bigger than you'd expect. One drawback is the fact that though there are a lot of hands-on tweaking, for programming you must menu-dive; and though it's fairly straightforward, it slows down the juices considerably. However, some effort gives great rewards in the sound-shaping department. Build quality is surprisingly good: my unit did not suffer from the 'frequent-complainers': no keyboard issues, no lopsided screen. Pulled it out, let it warm up, and began playing. Definitely a winner; glad I took the plunge!
