Using all-analog circuitry, the VB-2W authentically reproduces the true pitch-shifted vibrato of the original pedal, and also adds an innovative new vibrato mode and real-time control function for enhanced expression.

    Another great pedal on my boss pedal board. I have thirteen boss pedals, and very pleased with Boss products. From amps to pedals Boss always delivers. I have tried other brand pedals only to trade them for a Boss pedal. I do not even consider another brand pedals. I play almost everyday for a couple of hours, and never had an issue with Boss. #Sweepstakes.

    It took me a while to bond with this effect. I really, really wanted to like it but I had difficulty finding the right sound that complimented my overall tone. After finding the "Black Hole Sun" setting, I thought that I had exhausted all it's capabilities. I wasn't very familiar with vibrato outside of chorus and uni-vibe, but I also didn't realize that vibrato was so widely used either. Once I stopped trying to use it like other modulation effects, I realized that the real beauty lies in it's subtlety. Though it can be used to make your tone seasick, it sounds best when it's barely noticeable. I know that sounds crazy especially given it's price, but it can't be overstated that having it barely turned up adds a lot of depth and richness to the overall tone. So much so that when you use it for a couple of songs and turn it off, it's absence is immediately noticeable. It adds subtle movement and thickness just below the surface, but the ripples it creates change the very nature of the pond itself- in a good way. In this sense it can be used as always on effect. That being said, it only does one thing making it a very expensive one trick pony. One note of caution: When used in the same chain as an effect with a charge pump (a component in some effects to raise or lower the internal voltage), it produces a very noticeable high pitched whine due to a process called heterodyning. A quick search on the internets will provide a better definition and description than I can give. It seems to affect modulation effects across the board, so don't freak out and send it back thinking it's busted. I had the exact same issue with an A/DA flanger and almost cried when I thought it was broken, but it just tuned out to be my Archer Ikon blasting it with voltage. Once the effect with a charge pump is removed, all is well.
