BOSS FV-50L Stereo Volume Pedal

I've purchased two of these pedals over the last 3 years. I use one in a studio and one for rehearsal/gigging. The best feature is being able to control two keyboards with one pedal so that when you need to produce both a piano and organ sound simultaneously, they're balanced in volume. The oldest pedal required some spray lube/cleaner recently but continues to work fine. Some might not like the lower pedal weight feature, but when you're lugging metal stands, seats, amps and two keyboards around, any weight you can shed makes for a more pleasant event. Electrically, the pedal controlled signal is smooth and even, regardless of the brand of instrument being played through it. I like being able to adjust the lowest volume setting to help balance the "pedal signal off" feature.

This is a good little pedal for the price. It's main competition is probably the Ernie Ball and this has some features the EB doesn't. First you have a choice between the Low Impedance (L in the name) and High Impedance (the "H" one) pedal. All of my pedalboards have something that changes the normally high impedance signal from the guitar into a low impedance, which means less tone degradation. Two ins and outs with a separate tuner out that still sends a signal when the pedal is completely off is also a great idea. There is a knob on the side that you can fine tune the pedal to lower your volume or completely shut it off. Most volume pedals don't have that feature and I love it as I prefer it to just lower volume most of the time. There is a stiff travel to the pedal which means it usually stays put where you set it and it's easier to go up or down a little instead of all the way up or down. I also like the size as it fits on the board well due to being shorter than other pedals out there. I took off the 1 point because to my ears there is a little bit of tone loss/suck. I have had mine for 8 years and it still works well although I am starting to hear a little scratchiness from the old potentiometer but that can be expected at this point.

I waited a while to get a volume pedal. I actually have three now, behind guitar, behind my distortion, and at the end before the amp! I can do volume swells, clean up my distortion and finally overall sound. Very easy to use, a no brainer, smooth, no noise.

I got this pedal for my birthday and WOW is what I said when I first used it. I love how it changes the volume when i play my guitar. Best birthday gift ever!
