Description

The BOSS DD-7 Digital Delay is a guitar effects pedal that takes the best features from its predecessors and expands their creative potential. You get Modulation Delay mode, classic modeled Analog Delay mode, External pedal control options, longer delay time, and more. Even with the best-selling delays in compact-pedal history, BOSS continues to push the envelope and innovate.

Expanded Delay Time
Up to 6.4 seconds of delay time are available with the DD-7, a marked increase from its predecessor. In addition, Hold mode allows up to 40 seconds of input to be recorded for creating "sound on sound" performances.

Delay Modes
The BOSS DD-7 pedal is equipped with two innovative and advanced delay modes. Modulation Delay provides chorus-flavored sounds. Analog Delay offers a modeled simulation of the classic BOSS DM-2, beloved for its characteristic warmth.

External Control
For hands-free control of the DD-7 pedal, an external footswitch and Expression pedal (sold separately) can be used. Tap tempo can be controlled from an external footswitch, while delay time, feedback and effect level can be changed on the fly via Expression pedal.

Stereo Output
Create amazing effects with the BOSS DD-7 pedal's stereo output, such as spatial audio sweeps via true stereo panning. You can also use the stereo outputs to create separate dry and wet signal paths—handy for recording and live-performance control.

Great delay, with a lot of different uses

This pedal may not be the most versatile of all delay pedals or the biggest, but it certainly fills all requirements. The analog delay perfectly gets this warm sorta tone and it sounds like the echo from shouting off a mountain. The modulate mode laces your signal with a really sweet sounding chorus sound and it makes your tone perfect no matter what delay time. Reverse probably isn't the most practical mode, but is fun to use, especially if you put the level at halfway, for your regular guitar sound to be followed by it reversed. I've found with this pedal that you can find other uses, such as a ring mod, fast tremolo, and various cool sounds you can get messing with the feedback and delay time. If your into sound manipulation like I am, this pedal is perfect. Once with a song I even created a manipulated beat, kept the feedback really high and turned the pedal off so I could play over the beat. all in all, it's a great pedal. really nice tone and it isn't noisy at all. oh and the loop function is convenient.

Good until it started cutting out

I'm just a home guitar player. I've had the DD7 maybe 2 years, with light use. The pedal does what it's supposed to and I even like the hidden looper feature (very basic and short loop, good for a little background chord progression), but my main issue is that the delay cuts in and out. I'm playing along and everything is going nicely, then it just stops, it's either fast for maybe just 1 note, or it's for a whole few seconds.

I have owned this pedal now for about 2 years... years... years... Okay, that was bad, but I couldn't resist :) On a serious note, a few months ago (late 2019), BOSS introduced the DD8 to replace the DD7. Some retailers are therefore starting to discount the price of the DD7, so make sure you look for those price reductions before settling on the DD7 (and keep in mind that some retailers are still selling both pedals for the SAME price). As for the performance of the DD7, it's a very versatile delay pedal but admittedly I typically just use if for very basic purposes... such as a delay time of around 400ms, with one or two repeats, used for solos... and in that context, I can't complain. Not only does it work as expected, but I don't hear any impact on the tone or noise level. I could have gone with a simpler delay pedal, but I like having the extra versatility just in case I want to experiment down the road. If you don't need all of the extra bells and whistles, you can definitely find cheaper units in the $70-$100 range, but I can't attest to their sound quality or noise levels. Fortunately, you can take advantage of the fact that most major online retailers these days allow you to return products (even if you simply don't like them) within a reasonable amount of time.

I just play at home for my own enjoyment these days, so the BOSS DD-7 delay pedal has more features than I'd ever really need! I've seen them on many of my favorite players' pedalboards, and finally decided to buy one of my own! It's going to be a learning curve.. but I'm looking forward to many years of enjoyment with my new DD-7.

I used to have a sheet to convert millisecond to BPM. I just have too much fun with this one without a ton of bells and whistles and filtering I can't avoid. Also it's nice to set it at the beginning of the chain for a sound check.
