After Using Two Packages
So here's the deal. You have three "what should be simple" instructions: cut straight, push until you can't, screw. To break these out: 1. Cut straight: You'll have no problems here 2. Push: This is--no doubt--where naysayers are having the problem. It took me quite some time to figure this issue out. I ended up working directly with a guitar amp to hear the noise of when the connection occurred at each stage of the game. It's hard to know exactly when you've pushed *enough* but your amp will tell you. Twisting the cable seemed to help as well. 3. Screw: Your incentive may be for a tight connection. Just don't break the sleeve and create a short. My first failed attempts were screwing too tight. Later on, I just barely made them flush. Other advice: 1. Start with the smaller ones for practice and give yourself a bit of cushion with the cutting, in case you need to trim more off later. I don't know if Boss is generous with the cable, but one spool perfectly fit my needs for two packages. 2. Again, make sure you can measure the connection when it happens--guitar amp worked great for me. Just tap on the end of the cable with your thumb as you're working with it.

This cable kit is a joke
First off, this kit is the worse functioning cable kit I've ever used. Secondly, the connections don't properly connect. Lastly, good luck trying to return them after they don't function properly because you've already cut them. Trying to argue with a store manager who is just quoting you policy and not listening to you tell him something doesn't function properly is added stress after dealing with these cables. Please buy George l's. I would give this product negative stars if it were possible.

It's great that I can always make exact lengths and never have to worry about a bad connection. As my pedalboards keep expanding, I will keep buying these BOSS Cable Kits.
Refreshed my pedalboard again for the 2nd time with this kit

I used this to upgrade my pedalboard situation about 4 years ago. It is very easy to use. Simply push in the cable with pressure and twist if needed. Tighten the screw snug but not all the way through the cable shielding so it doesn't short. I needed a few new connections today and still had plenty of cable to trim to size for my needs after my initial use of all the connectors and still have a bit left for the next customization.

incredibly frustrating to use. They do not work. Instructions on the package are extremely vague and borderline useless.

These don't really work...

I would not buy these again. For every 10 cables I tried to make 1 worked... I've soldered cables before and these are not worth it.
Not worth a penny

Used with the intention to wire pedalboard. You NEED a multimeter if you're going to try these. For me, no matter what I did, no matter how many attempts, twists, tweaks, and do-overs, I could not get continuity on a single cable I'd made. I've soldered cables in the past and they always worked first try. It's more work but, well, there's a reason the best practices are more work. Short cuts make long delays...
