BASSBOSS

Description

Delivering 4,000W of profoundly deep, tight low-end reinforcement, the SSP218 offers an extremely cost-effective solution for those who need big bass for the broadest range of applications, providing huge low end for the price, and proven reliability. After beer spillage, late night-knocks, accidental mixer overloads, DJ debacles, and the regular wear and tear of providing people with a reason to dance, your SSP218 will be right there with you, ready for more, gig after gig.

BASSBOSS was born out of a passion for ultra-deep low-end, and a belief that tight, clean, accurate bass is the foundation of great sound. Each BASSBOSS product is a mindfully engineered, painstakingly tuned, completely integrated audio system, intended to seamlessly pair with other BASSBOSS products. BASSBOSS speakers are designed, built and hand-assembled in Austin, Texas, using only premium components. Like its siblings in the BASSBOSS lineup, the SSP218 powered subwoofer is optimized for full-power usage. That is to say, it's intended to be pushed hard and abused, gig after gig. So, don't hold back—crank it up.

The SSP218 is a vented, direct-radiating dual 18" subwoofer that is tuned for optimal driver performance and linear frequency response from 30–100Hz. The cabinet features ultra-rigid construction with extensive bracing. Ideally suited for use as a professional touring subwoofer, its truck-pack dimensions are compatible with 90″ and 96″ truck widths and up to four boxes can be stacked and transported on a single dolly cart. This allows 16 subwoofers and their 64,000 watts of amplification to be transported in as little as 5′ of 96″ wide truck space or 12 boxes and 48,000 Watts in 4′ of 90″ truck space. On their custom-fit wheel carts with locking casters, stacks of 2 or 3 SSP218s can be rolled into place and used without the need to remove them from their carts. For added flexibility, the SSP218s can be stacked on their carts facing forwards or in cardioid configuration.

BASSBOSS uses only continuous RMS power ratings because you’re not going to be using your sub in millisecond bursts. For subwoofer applications, peak and burst power ratings are largely irrelevant. 4,000W of continuous power with integrated, comprehensive DSP ensures the amp isn’t the limiting factor in the output of low frequencies, and prevents overheating issues and virtually eliminates the damage that clipping an underpowered amp can cause. BASSBOSS specs reflect what the products will achieve, consistently, in the real world—since the real world is where you’ll be using your gear.

Built to withstand the rigors of repeated gigging, the SSP218 powered subwoofer is constructed from 18 mm Baltic Birch plywood, using dado joints, screws and advanced composite adhesives. Stainless steel bolts are used to secure the driver, amplifier and pole sockets. The cabinet is finished in an extremely rugged, black polyurethane coating. The SSP218's drivers are protected by a black powder-coated, perforated steel grill, and the amp is recessed into the back of the cabinet for protection from damage.

Complementing the SSP218's virtually indestructible design are 18" drivers that are also built to take a beating. The woofer cones are waterproofed to protect them from accidental exposure to moisture, such as rain or spilled beverages. The added benefit of a waterproof cone is that you can clean the driver with a damp cloth in the event it becomes soiled.

I am extremely pleased with the performance of this subwoofer. From my experience, It operates exactly as advertised and meets all specifications. I own two of them and have used them at a variety of events, including as main subs and DJ monitors with BASSBOSS AT312s and L/r Configuration with bands. They have consistently exceeded my expectations and have even received compliments from venue staff. I would highly recommend this product to anyone in the market for a high-quality subwoofer. It's worth noting that some reviews, such as the one by Raoul From Columbus Oh, may not have direct experience with the product and may not be entirely accurate. However, I have found that this subwoofer performs exceptionally well, even when compared to others using multiple dual 18s.

  • Definitely recommend any Bassboss products

Not sure if Raoul from Columbus, Ohio has "experienced" any of these products in a live situation or his "2" given would definitely change. I don't believe that the specs said that you can have two of these at full tilt on one circuit. More explanation needed other than just a spec.

  • Doesn't meet published specs at 120v.

The 120 volt version can't do 4000 rms watts output as at 20 amps, that's only 2400 watts. I believe the cord is only 14 ga rated at 15 amps and the AC plug is a nema 15 amp one, not the 20 amp version. These also should not have white powercon output connectors as 2 subs easily trip a 20 amp circuit breaker. It's only useable with one top box and not at more than half output on 120v.

  • I recommend 100%
