I am currently using this mic on the pulpit at my church. The sound quality is very good and it seems to pick up the speakers voice very well. I have already had many comments from people about how much better they can hear. I would recommend this mic.

Outstanding results when used as a directional mike. It gave me very good results for my singers at church, using two singers per mike. Very directional and noise free for voices. Highly recommended for this purpose.

I use this for a talkback mic on a Allen & Heath GL2400. Even with the talkback volume set to 0 I have to be careful to allow --plenty-- of distance from the mic or it is very loud.

The product is performing far better than expected - and I expected a fairly high level to begin with. Range is great. Truly outstanding value for the money.

How can I attach this to the podium without drilling a large hole through the wood bass.
I apologize for the confusion, you can't. This requires a proprietary podium that has XLR connections in the mount.
