Audio Technica LP120 is the real deal
Its the real deal. I was planning to buy a Project so I could hear my extremely clean 70's era vinyl again, but there are just too many cool things going on with this AT Model LP120 - direct drive, strobe, preamp, usb. The weakest link may be the cartridge, but that may be the only improvement you can make as well.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS. Pay VERY close attention to the worst reviews online. They ALL go bad! Even if they didn't, the tonearm is too high even on its lowest setting. I had to add 3 Mats and it was still too high. This will wear your style fast and dig in the grooves at the wrong angle. My tracking failed in 6 months. Had it as a side player for bedroom. Sound quality was decent with a Shure cart... My main player is the Stanton ST.150 S Shaped tone arm. Best player I ever had. That is THE player. Grab that.

Well maybe save your money looking for a used high quality old turntable on the internet. For $300 brand new this is a beautiful turntable. Heavy well made and clean sound. Highly recommended.

After a lot of research, even tho I wanted an automatic lift arm, (this one is manual) this model seemed to be the right one for me due to its other features like the USB port for digitizing on the computer. I purchased to mid range Yamaha speakers to go with it, and the sound is amazing. It has a lot of features, pre amp, direct drive, built in ad\dc cord, anti-skate, weighted arm, etc. Forward\backwards motion, 33\45\78 range. The needle cartridge can easily be upgraded, but the one it comes with is very good. It is extremely well built, very heavy, removable cover, easy to set up. Just make sure to get all the right connections to hook up to your speakers, or receiver. I would highly recommend this turntable to anyone wanting a nice mid range priced turntable.
I would buy again but somewhere else

Purchased this for the ability to play 78 records. I had to order the 78 stylus from another retailer. So far I have been having a good time digitizing a very old 78 record collection.

Is this turntable as Google as the the 1200 for scratching?
It's really good. Probably on the same level as far as performance goes. A lot of people say it's a bit better feel especially for a vinyl style player.submitted7 years ago
