Sharp sound, easy use, simple, simple, simple - the AT-8022
submitted14 years ago
byRon Duquette

As someone who does a lot of field recordings (most years between 180-210 different recordings per year) having a rugged, simple, clear and sharp-sounding mike to take along is a must. For years I had sworn by the AudioTechnica At-825 - it met all of those requirements and more. Rugged (you should see what the mesh cashing looks like on some of them - but they chug right along!), simple, clear sound. When I found they had dropped the AT-825s from the product line, I wondered "what next?" Well, the AT-8022 is, if possible, even better - just did a major recording with it over two days, and it exceeded my wildest expectations. It is also reasonable for the price Yes, the Sennheisers and other similar high-end mikes do a fabulous job - but if you do field recording work, take the AT-8022 along.
