Just save up for the Rode Ntg3 or the Sennheiser 416. This microphone is so noisy!!!! I have upgraded my field recorder twice since first purchasing this microphone and I can tell you from a Zoom H4/H5 to a Tascam 680 MkII to a Sound Devices 633(which is an industry standard production sound field recorder, used by the pros) and no preamp will make this mic any less noisy. The best use you will get out of it is MAYBE/POSSIBLY an ADR mic in a nice quiet controlled booth with the talent almost eating the microphone. Otherwise the noise floor on the mic will leave any dialogue recorded through it completely unusable. And forget that battery powered option, you'll have to swap for fresh cells every 3 hours just to attempt any basic use out of it. garbage garbage garbage, Sorry AT, i like a lot of your other stuff.
