Aston vs IDLES
Description
Wave-Form Mesh Head
The Origin features Aston’s signature wave-form mesh head. This unique design delivers an unprecedented degree of protection for the mic capsule. Its shock-resistant wave-form design allows the head of the mic to bend upon impact, and then return to its normal position without any damage to the capsule itself. It also offers a degree of off-axis rejection, helping to eliminate unwanted artifacts from your recordings.
Built-In Pop Filter
Aston’s vocal condenser microphones have an exclusive mesh-knit pop filter built into the wave-form head. The random weave allows sound to pass while virtually eliminating unwanted plosives at the source. It also shields against multiple wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation, making it ideal in sensitive electronic applications. This completely encapsulating, single-piece mesh cage is formed in stainless steel. It won’t rust with use and can even be removed and washed.
End Caps
Yet another unique design element of the Aston Origin is the use of custom-molded end caps with integrated XLR and stand adaptor. Because the internal shock absorption system is so good, you can mount the microphone directly to a stand via this built-in, interchangeable thread adapter. The design also makes Aston microphones easy to repair and maintain.
Chassis
Part of the beauty of Aston microphones is the custom finish of each chassis. Each chassis is also individually tumbled for up to four hours to give it a very hard-wearing, and extremely beautiful, finish. To perfect the look, each microphone is separately engraved with its legends, and the Aston brand mantra, “The art of performance."

Amazing quality for the 1/3 of the price
These new Aston mics are amazing. Compared to mics costing 3 to 4 times more, the quality and sound is just as good. Sounds great on vocals, acoustic guitar, drum overheads, percussion, room mic, etc. Instead of buying one c414 for the same money buy two of theses.

Too much sibilance!
No matter where I place the mic: the side of my face, above my head, off to the side and a foot away the recording exaggerates the sssssss sound. I've used other mics Such as Neumann BCM 104 and never encountered this problem. Any ideas on how to correct it?

I own a u87ai and I still use this mic.. best microphone for the price and it's not even close. It's not as smooth as the u87ai but I find smooth can be somewhat boring sometimes.

Lots of things will sound good on this mic. Can't wait try try it on them all. Meantime, vocals (bright tenor voice) and acoustic (maple Taylor 614) sound amazing.

I just purchased this mic the microphone is threaded for a European 3/8" mic stand and this won't for a typical USA mic stand thread. Do these mics usually not come with an adapter? Doesn't make sense why it would not. thx
