Comments about Arturia BeatStep Controller & Sequencer:
Bought this primarily as a pad + knob controller for switching Mainstage patches and tweaking/programming soft synths. I did not like the cheap feel of other compact controllers, and this blows them out of the water. Really solid build. Excellent feel to the pads. Totally flexible MIDI param assignments (for my purposes at least). I wasn't particularly interested in sequencer features, CV options, etc. but will probably mess around with that at some point. Just a fantastic addition to the rig.
Comments about Arturia BeatStep Controller & Sequencer:
This is probably one of the best purchases I've made this year. I mainly purchased this for Sonivox Big Bang and Toontrack Superior Drummer 2. There isn't much to this controller which, for me, is perfect. I would rather not be bogged down by infinite tweak ability. My only complaint is that there isn't a whole lot of documentation on how to integrate the controller with Pro Tools 11, and it was frustrating at first to get things set up. If you run into issues with setup, spend a little more time with it. It is as easy as plugging it in, setting up a track with your favourite midi based plug in, ARM THE TRACK, then rock 'n' roll. The pads feel great, they are very sensitive and light up when you push them. The build quality is high class. I can't believe this was only a hundred dollars! The knobs a smooth, knotched, and feel expensive. The software that comes with it is straight forward and easy to customize the layout to your plug-in mapping. I like this so much that I think I will pick up their Mini Lab next to replace my M-Audio Oxygen 25. The build quality is so much better, feels professional, and looks great.
