I just wanted something to use to record my guitar into GarageBand. I bought a cheaper item but it only picked up sound through the iPad's microphone. So, I went for the more expensive option. A bit pricey for a small connecting device but I'm just happy to have an option. Very happy with my purchase! Works great and the sound is very clear.

I have had this for about a year and love it. I just started learning how to play guitar and wanted something easy to play along with Yousician. The sound that comes out is big, crisp and responsive, and always sounds like the presets I choose in Garageband. I prefer playing with this over my real amp. Their customer service is great too. I recently had problems with the cable that connects Jam to my laptop (could have been my son's fault). Regardless, when I wrote to Apogee to learn more about the issue they sent me a replacement before I even had to ask. I really appreciated that. Highly recommend getting this.

Great tool for recording, works with acoustics but you will want to use with an electric guitar to really get some sounds out of it.

Wow, I can't believe I am the first to write a review on this product here at GC. I bought an IRig and brought it back the same day due to it not working. I picked up the Apogee instead and found it to be a great product. Unfortunately it is quite a bit more expensive than they IRig but I guess you get what you pay for. I use this for practicing. I can plug my guitar into my iPad and run the ToneStack app (great app in my opinion) to play along with my favorite songs. I will generally dial in the tone I want and then open up YouTube and play the music video while I play along. You can also record yourself playing along and listen back without all the accompanying instruments. I found I really don't sound as good as I think I do without the drums and bass! Anyway, I recommend this product if you are looking for a company setup to use while watching TV or relaxing in the living room.
