Can't go wrong
This cabinet is a staple, you can not go wrong unless you are in an acoustic band, in which case you will get fired for being too loud and taking up too much realestate. These cabinets sound great and that is why they are a familiar sight in many pro backlines. The cabinet is heavy, but worth the work. If you gig regular, the tolex WILL rip, black gaff tape or a razor and some black spray paint will get you straight, and from the audience, no one will know the difference. If you need a serious pro rock bass cabinet, this is THE cabinet.

where's the range?
soo...i got the 810 cab. but...i'm not quite certain i am impressed by it. i originally had a 4x10 and 1x15 stack. which i believed was exactly the perfect tone. but i was convinced to trade in for this enclosure. what a huge disappoint. the mid range is all there. and...the high are well carried. however...the low end is not very present or represented at all. i have a couple different third parties effects attempted to regain the low end representation...but still fall shy of achieving it. soo...if i were you...i would look into getting something with a little more versatility and variety. ampeg makes great products...so maybe just wait until they make a 4x10, 1x15 full stack cab. as for now...anyone want to buy my 8x10 enclosure?

This thing is heavy....heavy in weight and heavy in tone. My local store didn't have one on hand so I had to order it. Due to having to ship by freight, it took a bit longer to get than expected but Guitar Center was not a fault other than using a slow company. Now that it's home, the cabinet is in fact all its cracked-up to be.

I did the math...

I did the math, it takes 3.55 fifteen inch speakers to push as much air as eight 10 inch speakers. Radius of a 10" = 5". 5" squared = 25, times pi (3.14)= 78.5 square inches. Times 8 ten inch speakers = 628 sq. inches. Now a 15 inch speaker equals (7.5 x 7.5) x 3.14 = 176.62 sq inches. 176.62 times 4 (speakers) = 706.5 sq. inches, MORE than 8 ten inch speakers. 78.5 square inches more. I'm not a sound engineer, so maybe there's more to it than just the area of speaker sizes? I am an analyst. That being said, I own a CL head and a SVT 410HLF cab and am very impressed. Someday I'd like to get an 810 cab too. Ampeg makes good stuff. I'm sure I'd like the 810HE cab too. Thanks.

So I purchased this along with an Ampeg SVT-3PRO series head (Check out my review on that)last month and I am nothing less than 100% satisfied. Also I play a Fender Jazz Amercian Standard bass. This cab is SO clean sounding. It's SO loud! Like really, really loud. The lows that come out of this cab have an exceptionally clear tone that no matter how loud I take it the sound never distorts. The highs are SO clean and crispy sounding. The Mid's, of boy am I happy with the mid's. With previous amps I've used I've always had trouble finding an amp or cab with a Mid range that sounded just as good as the Lows and Highs. This one has it! The Mid's along with the highs and lows make this one great cab to have. A must have actually. I play occasionally at a rehearsal studio and play with the bass gear they have there. I don't remember exactly the name but it was definitely was a Carvin head and Cab. All I can say is "Night and day". I totally understand all the hype behind this cab. It's a classic and a standard for a reason. I do want to mention that every since I got this I have been blowing away my guitarist, who typically was always a bit louder than me. Not anymore. I find him constantly adjusting his amp trying to keep up with the loudness and clarity that this cab produces. It is pricey, but trust me, YOU ARE PAYING FOR QUALITY! Absolutely worth it, especially if you're a bass player that's getting pretty serious about your sound. I played nothing but combo amps for the past five years and going from combo amps to an Ampeg set up is like going from a VW bug to a Ferrari. AMPEG IS KING!
