Alvarez

collapse expand iconDescription

At only 3.3 lb., the DeLite is one the lightest, smallest guitars Alvarez ever made. This diminutive Delta derives its name from the fact it's a delight to play. The body size is not a great deal larger than a baritone ukulele, but is has a long scale and full-size 1-3/4" nut making this a serious little guitar with a very special construction. It's great for focused bluesy tones and performs wonderfully when fingerpicked. Parents looking for a refined and correctly designed, high-quality guitar for their child, look no further. The DeLite also comes with a super-deluxe 15 mm duo-foam gig bag, so its ready to travel the world.

I bought my Alvarez DD about 3 years ago now. I wanted a parlor guitar at the time but opted for this after reading the specs. The part that appealed to me was the neck dimensions. I don't like fat chunky necks and I also don't the really small profile necks either. The neck profile on the DD is a soft v that gradually ends up in a c profile. It also has a comfortable 1 3/4" bone nut. There is also a bone saddle to match. This little guy is just a blast to play and I don't really find myself playing my other acoustic guitars much since I got it.I'm not a person that has a bunch of expensive guitars and things but I do know what sounds good to my ears and this guitar sounds just fine compared to my other guitars and always brings a smile to my face. The quality and workmanship of this guitar makes me feel like it will last as long as I will need it to. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an acoustic that will fit us short folks.

  • Great little thing. No regrets

Clearly of good quality. Nice construction and attention to detail. The body is fairly deep so you get good tones and projection. Louder and more clear than I was expecting. The neck is quick and easy to play. I'm a huge fan of D'addario EXP coated strings. That's what I would've put on it, but fortunately it's already an added bonus. Set up well out of the box. The action might be a tad low for some, but I personally like it. Some occasional fret buzzing, but not too bad. The fretboard isn't as cramped as some travel guitars, but it's definitely far from full sized. The logos on the head stock and 12th fret are nicer than the pics. The finish is slightly brighter than the image profided. I'm picky about sunburst finishes, but I like this one. The bag is also of good quality. I don't feel like there's a need to upgrade. It has a couple of pockets and is super snug on the instrument. I was hopeful it might fit an Ibanez parlor bass that I have, but no chance! I only have 2 issues, which aren't deal breakers.. The body is very light and so it can easily neck dive while wearing a strap. Also, the input is part of the bottom strap button, and the way that the strap button is formed, I don't have 100% confidence that a strap wouldn't slip off, but it may be okay.. I haven't plugged it in yet. The volume/tone controls look a tad chinsey, but everything seems like it's well mounted on the inside. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this guitar. I was looking for a small guitar that I would want to constantly pick up and play at home, and that I could easily travel with or take jamming over a friend's house. The pickup is an added bonus for that. I like it better than the baby Taylor and small Martins. The GS mini is of better quality, but I feel like I won't ended up kicking myself over the price tag on this one. I definitely understand why they call it the "delite".
