Alvarez Guitars
After 50 years of making guitars, continual improvement through the use of emerging technologies, processes, and materials is still at the heart of Alvarez's culture. Alvarez guitars are constructed correctly in every sense, from raw material preparation to construction and manufacturing processes. Their tonewoods are carefully cured; components, such as neck blocks and wood joints, are carefully designed. The painting, sanding and polishing techniques used are continually researched and developed, and tone is impeccably crafted and married to a stable, consistent and lively sound box.
This caring approach to development comes from one simple goal: To deliver the best guitars in the market at every price point, instruments that are truly amazing value and offer a fantastic player experience.
Alvarez believes their multi-award-winning Artist Series is one of the finest solid top guitar lines in the world today and demonstrates their commitment to design.
The term “solid top” they use for their guitars refers to the soundboard of an acoustic guitar being made of solid wood, rather than being laminated. However, just because the top is solid, it does not necessarily mean the sound automatically benefits from this feature. The tone of the instrument only improves significantly when the whole guitar is built correctly to optimize the energy a solid soundboard can generate. Artist Series is built to do exactly this.
Each model is designed to get the best out if its components, and for them to work together to produce balance, lively projection and great response. These components include our FST2 bracing system, bi-level rosewood bridge, real bone nut and saddle, great quality tonewoods and thin finish. FST2 is a forward shifted X brace design, this means the axis of the X is closer to the sound hole and therefore creates a larger soundboard area allowing for more energy and vibration to be harnessed. Both the X braces and asymmetric tone bars are carefully scalloped. The scalloping design was the result of years of continual development in our Yairi workshops. Artist Series instruments sound and personality is open and powerful. FST2 also creates very good balance so both the treble and bass registers are clearly present and balanced in relation to each other. Artist Series feel right and are exciting to play; no matter if you are strumming hard or picking lightly, the guitar will do what you ask of it. F
All of Alvarez's tops are carefully selected by their own team and are graded independently of their suppliers. If it isn't worthy, they won’t use it. Top quality improves as you move up the Artist Series models but all are stiff and finely grained.
Along with a more angled headstock, their bi-level bridge increases string tension by making the break angle of the strings from the saddle to the top more acute. Improved string tension adds to the sound, feel and response, which are also heightened by the use of real bone nuts and saddles. Artist Series also demonstrates great finishing capabilities; the gloss models have a clear, deep shine from a finish that is applied as thinly as possible, again to help optimize tone.

Great Guitar for any Level at a good Price!
Great instrument for any level! I love the walnut body and clean rosewood neck with the one inlay at 12th fret! The rosewood for guitar necks has always been a favorite especially with not too much inlays on the fretboard! Very easy and comfortable to dig in and feel, smell, hear the tone of the wood! the woods used to construct this model guitar gives a very warm sound wih not too much highs and a gorgeous mid range sound oppossed to the other modeled guitars that are out there! I love the fact that the guitar has a pick-up installed with the conveniency of a sound hole, mini tone and volume switch built in for when you want to plug in! Was never a huge fan of the on board eq with acoustic guitars due to the raw look and feel that one takes away on an acoustic when having an huge elctronic set built in! The Bridge design is contoured awsome and just absolutley love the real bone nut and saddle! Very easy guitar to play with great actian and quick response! All around great acoustic for the price! Would recommend Alvarez guitars to anyone! Cheers!

Excellent acustic sound, but really bad electrical system
I tested every single guitar on this price range available at the store. This guitar is by far has the best acoustic sound, I was amazed at the quality. On the other side it has been very disappointing to spend a long time trying to make it sound acceptable connected to a PA, I tried lowering the gain, I tried using a DI box but nothing was enough to make sound ok. The guitar when amplified sounds boxed in and distorted . I am using an instrument mic to play for now. Looking for other options.

Plug in and try it while you are in the store. Make sure the guitar sounds great. I made the mistake of not plugging in and trying it out before I bought. Sounds good not plugged in. If your looking for a practice guitar without having to plug in. It's good for that.
I would opt for a better pickup.

It was quite disappointed with this guitar, although the price point was good, they should have put a better pickup system in this Guitar. Unplugged it's a great guitar, I thought about keeping it, but that pickup system just sounded horrible.
I love the tone, and the ease of playing it

I will be busking with this guitar..I did not find any issues with the pickup as other reviewers had I simply dialed the pickup tone and volume control down to 1 setting..the action and neck on this guitar allows easy playing using runs and riffs.. The sustain and tone sounds like a guitar costing 3X$ as much..buy it..you will love it at current sales price .
I would buy this guitar again and again!

The neck was molded to my small guitar player hands, it's the perfect guitar for me.
Defective Pickup System

Sounded & felt good, acoustically. But, that's where all the good stuff ended, as the pickup system was defective. Also, the g string consistently went out of tune.
Great acoustic sound, defective pickup....

The guitar showed up in good condition. Once tuned, it sounds very well, acoustically. But then, I plugged it in, er, attempted to...?!? The pickup was obviously defective..it "screached loudly"..not usable at all. Too bad, because the guitar itself sounded very good. I sent it back for a refund.....
