Alvarez AMPE915EAR Artist Elite Parlor Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural Shadow Burst

In conceptualizing Artist Elite, Alvarez’s goal was simple: to produce a collection of guitars beyond comparison.
The Alvarez Artist Elite series is the culmination of years of research and development that allows Alvarez to produce custom-style instruments from selected tonewoods with a radiant vibe. Artist Elite models look stunning, sound rich and offer a level of fit and finish rarely attainable at such an affordable price. The Alvarez AMPE915EAR Artist Elite is a beautifully developed “modern” parlor with a rare pairing of tonewoods.
After 50 years of making guitars, continual improvement through the use of emerging technologies, processes and materials is still at the heart of Alvarez’s culture. Alvarez guitars are constructed accurately in every sense, from raw material preparation to construction and manufacturing processes. Alvarez’s tonewoods are carefully selected and their components, such as neck blocks and wood joints are carefully designed. The painting, sanding and polishing techniques Alvarez uses are continually researched and developed, and the Alvarez tone is impeccably crafted and married to a stable, designed and lively sound box.
Alvarez Artist Elite series models are built to optimize the energy that a solid soundboard can generate, which significantly improves the overall tone of the instrument. Each model is designed to get the best out of its components, and for them to work together to produce balance, lively projection and great response. These components include bracing architecture that is specifically designed for each body shape or tonal requirement. Alvarez’s Bi-level bridge is designed to heighten string tension and improve sustain and response. Real bone nut and saddle, premium tonewoods and Alvarez’s crafted attenuated finish all further the quality of construction and positively impact the performance of the instrument.

I've played this everyday since I received it, it's comfortable, lovely Cedar tone acoustically and was in perfect condition when I received it. Others have mentioned the tone and volume control being loose in the cavity, mine was secure and functioning. The neck is satin and very comfortable while the body is gloss but not prone to fingerprints that I've noticed. It really is elegant and beautiful to look at though you might find it irresistible to play as it's small, accessible yet loud enough. I love it.
Great value for fingerpicking

This is my couch practice guitar and I couldn't be more pleased. Picked it up on sale for $400 and had to use double-sided tape to reattach the pickup controls in the sound hole but otherwise it plays as well as my Taylor 712. The cedar top really responds to fingerstyle blues and the neck is very comfortable. 5 stars!
Unfortunate Purchase

I wasn't able to spend time with the guitar or play it due to arriving damaged but Alvarez makes good guitars so I suspect it would have been fine. It looked nice but the gloss finish on this guitar is too heavy and too glossy. If this were satin or matte it would be perfect.
An amazing value for price paid, and it sounds incredible

I visited Guitar Center San Francisco to audition the acoustic parlor guitars they had in stock. I tried several different brands, and was at the store for about 4 hours. I kept coming back to this Alvarez AMPE915EAR because of several reasons: 1) the solid Western Cedar top with layered Macassar Ebony back & sides looks and sounds incredible; 2) the arm bevel is very comfortable; 3) the price; 4) most of all it was the balanced sound and clarity of tone coming from this compact and elegant parlor guitar. I took it home that day.

From the photos it appears that there are no fret markings on the either the fretboard or the side of the neck at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, or 9th frets? Is this true? Are many guitar players able to play without fret markers whatsoever? I know that I'm not!
They have the markers, it's just on the side of the fretboard.submitted5 years ago
