This is a great teaching tool for parents with or without a music background. The flashcards are great! They cover details you need to memorize like notes, rests, dynamics, etc. The keyboard chart is two- sided. The Alfred's Basic Practice Keyboard is good for practicing away from the piano-just keys without anything written on it. The other side called Alfred's Basic Keyboard Chart has notes written on it which is great. But to me the notes should be written on chart so black keys are at the top & white keys at the bottom just like a real piano. For some reason they are written upside down in relation to the orientation of a piano?? I guess there is a reason for this but I haven't figured it out yet. The method book is wonderful! It teaches parents ways to introduce the material to your child so you learn the material together by default. The additional song book is nice for extra songs to learn. The music cd follows along with the method book which is great for hearing how the music is supposed to sound. However, the music games CD ROM is okay at best. There are only six games to play and they are all outdated. I had to configure my laptop to Windows 98 compatibility mode to use it and so far my MIDI does not work with it so my child can't play the piano with the games, he can only use the laptop mouse. They should have updated the games by now--it's 2017. However, my son is having fun with two out of six of them but I can see him getting bored pretty quickly. If you have not learned enough material, you cannot play the other games. There should be more games to play for each chapter or group of chapters to continue the fun. We have already learned a lot together with this piano method package. I use it to supplement my adult piano lessons program when I need extra help on new concepts (i.e. flashcards, method book). Overall, the set is good for all intents and purposes but it could definitely use a reboot for the future.
