Alesis Elevate 5 MKII 5" Powered Studio Monitors (Pair)

Description
Time-Tested Technology
Alesis has been creating studio monitors for nearly a quarter century. In that time, they've learned a thing or two about maximizing sound and sonic clarity. Built using technology adopted from Alesis’ award-winning Monitor One and M1 Active professional studio monitors, Elevate 5 studio speakers are the perfect way to upgrade your computer or mobile device experience. Elevate 5 speakers leverage Alesis’ experience in designing studio loudspeakers by employing custom-designed wood cabinets that stay natural and neutral, regardless of the frequency content or volume.
Flexible I/O
A pair of rugged RCA jacks and a pair of 1/4" TRS jacks are onboard, perfect for connecting mixers, interfaces and virtually any other piece of audio gear. A 1/8" stereo headphones connection gives you the ability to defeat the speakers and switch to headphones easily at any time, and connecting the speakers is just as easy, requiring just one standard 1/8" cable (included). Elevate 5 studio speakers are designed to produce natural frequency response, but if you need a little more low-end punch, a convenient bass-boost switch does the trick. Trust your sound to the clarity, precise design and premium performance of Alesis Elevate 5 studio speakers.

I use these as monitors for my home recording studio. They work really well. The only caveat is that all the promotional/ads about these speakers claim they are 5" speakers , when in fact they are only 4.25" speakers. The reason I made the purchase is because 5" speakers are the recommended minimum size for recording studio monitors.
I would definitely buy these again.

This is my second time around with Alesis. I have Elevate 3's and bought a second pair for my wife's computer. I got the 5's so I could have better sound for my recordings as well as for my desktop computer. I like the clear sound and the volume knob is out front for easy use, where it should be. It also turns off the monitors. Monitors are easy to use and hook up, very good looking, and bass response is adequate. And you can't beat the price. My 3's are still strong after 3 years of use every day.
Impulse buy, should have waited and done more research.

Use them as desktop speakers for commercial production. Mixing various announcer tracks over a music bed. When not working use them to playback iTunes music. This is when I miss not having separate treble and bass controls. Also, volume out of headphone jack is reduced by about 60%
