Just bought this amp last week and I am really enjoying it for practice. If you buy this amp expecting to play gigs with it you will be sorely disappointed, buy it with the expectations of what it is...a practice amp.
I particularly enjoy the natural sound it has, it does not add anything that your bass doesn't have. The 4 band eq is sensitive and will help to shape your pretty much how you want it. The separate overdrive section is effective and can add a nice growl to your sound.
I pretty much keep my eq setting in the middle and the overdrive off because I use a Tech 21 Bass VT Pedal and this amp roars with this pedal...I honestly love this set up.
If you buy this knowing its limitations, you will love this amp. If you need a solid and true practice amp, then this may be what you are looking for!

The first time I used this amp after purchasing it new, it was discovered that there is a problem with one of the eq pots that causes it to make an obnoxious buzzing, humming, hissing sound. I tried taking the amp out of the speaker cab assembly to see if I could resolve this, but the speaker enclosure was assembled around the amp making impossible to remove the amp without destroying the speaker cable or speaker enclosure. Other than this problem, the amp gets a more than acceptable tone for the price you pay, but makes me wonder how many other amps have the same problem mine does.

Good little amp

By RICHARD COOPER

Comments about Acoustic B30 30W Bass Combo Amp:

I have a Acoustic B20, I use for small jams and it sounds great. The new B30 is a new version of that amp and has some new features overdrive, low mid, high mid and a shape button. One of the best little bass amp for the money, just need for the speaker to break in.

    Nice Amp

Comments about Acoustic B30 30W Bass Combo Amp:

I have an Acoustic B600H on a Peavey 2-15 cab for my main Amp, but I also play gigs where it is a pain to haul the big stuff around. The B30 works well in a small room, and I have modified it with a line out jack to connect it with a big system and use it as a monitor with a very mobile gig that I play for a couple months at Christmas time. The mobile Gig has a sound technician that controls all the sound for a 50 piece choir and orchestra so my B30 is just used for my own personal monitor. I had no difficulty removing the Amp from the enclosure to make the line out mod. I have had this Amp for 3 years now and it has been trouble free and a good performer for what it is.

Comments about Acoustic B30 30W Bass Combo Amp:

I have a regular bass gig in a moderately large restaurant, and I've been using an old SWR "Workingman's 12" for the job. That amp works fine, but it weighs 50 pounds and I got tired of lugging that thing around!!

I bought the Acoustic B30 without ever trying it out. I just wanted something light and inexpensive. Heh,... I crossed my fingers and trusted the reviews.

Turns out, it's just what I need. It's a little over 30 pounds, which really make a difference. And, to me, it sounds great.

Some reviewers have suggested it for home use or in the studio, implying that it isn't really powerful enough for gigs. But on my gig, I can easily play too loud at less that half-power. :)

One caveat: I'm a jazz guy, not a rocker. So, I'm not trying for ear-splitting sound levels. How this inexpensive amp behaves when really cranked up is something I'll never find out. But within the limits of my needs, it's great. I lucked out.

Comments about Acoustic B30 30W Bass Combo Amp:

I still can't comment on the OD feature other than it works; I don't use distortion on bass, but I did check it out. Let me also clarify; I previously owned the version 1 of both the Fender Rumble 25w and Ampeg 25w and those in fact were complete and utter junk, now we know why both companies went back to the drawing board and released a version 2 shortly after. It appears they have improved on their products, however, you still on get an 8" speaker vs. a 12" in the Acoustic. To get a 12" in either Fender or Ampeg you are looking at $200-300 and way more power and weight than most players would need unless you are a gigging musician who needs to be very loud (and has a strong back!).

Maybe a little bit big for a practice amp for some. This amp sounds fantastic a ton of control with the 4 band EQ. The overdrive has a ton of control also. Very well made you can see and hear the quality I recommend it.

All you really need in a good solid practice or small recording/gigging amp. I don't use the overdrive function so can't really comment on that. Nice and clean and deep. I had both the equivalent Fender Rumble and Ampeg and those were both junk! Go for Acoustic!
