AKG Lyra: Recording with Capture Modes

AKG Lyra: Feature Walkthrough

Description
The Lyra USB microphone from AKG is an innovative, multimode mic designed to make recording and streaming accessible for users of all levels. Featuring high-resolution 24-bit/192kHz converters and an internal shockmount, Lyra captures remarkably detailed, noise-free audio. Its 4-capsule mic array provides four versatile capture modes to suit any application, from podcasting and streaming to music recording. Connecting via USB, Lyra works with Windows, Mac, iOS and Android devices for a plug-and-play setup. Gain control, mute switch and zero-latency headphone monitoring put you in complete control of your sound. The Lyra USB microphone is available now from AKG, bringing over 70 years of acoustic excellence to your desktop.
Four Adaptive Capture Modes for Any Application
Whether recording vocals, an instrument or conducting an interview, Lyra's innovative 4-capsule mic array automatically adapts to capture audio perfectly. Four intuitive capture modes—front, front & back, tight stereo and wide stereo—provide targeted or expansive coverage. Easily select the ideal mode for your needs using the control panel on the mic body. Front mode focuses on sound directly in front of the mic, ideal for podcasting or streaming. Front & back picks up sound from both sides, perfect for recording a discussion. Tight stereo and wide stereo capture realistic, dimensional recordings of performances.
Zero-Latency Monitoring Keeps You Focused
When recording or streaming, being able to hear yourself clearly is key to giving your best performance. Lyra provides zero-latency monitoring via its built-in headphone jack, eliminating delay between your audio input and output. Adjust headphone volume, mic gain and activate the mute switch directly on the mic for complete control of your monitoring experience. Stay focused on your performance without distraction using Lyra's clear, low-latency monitoring.
Plug-and-Play Setup Works With All Your Devices
Connecting via its integrated USB cable, Lyra is designed for plug-and-play use with all major computing platforms. No special drivers or software are required—simply plug Lyra into your PC, Mac, smartphone or tablet and start recording or streaming. Lyra's onboard controls provide precision control over gain, polar pattern, headphone volume and mute, eliminating complicated setup. Whether at your desktop or on the go, Lyra makes high-quality recording and streaming accessible anytime, anywhere.
Rugged, Vintage-Inspired Design
Lyra's rugged metal construction and vintage-inspired design reflect AKG's long legacy crafting studio microphones. An integrated desktop stand lets you position the mic for optimal recording angle, while the standard mic mount thread allows use of traditional mic stands for more flexibility. Lyra's striking yet compact form factor fits perfectly on any desktop, ready to capture your audio creations whenever inspiration strikes.

Great price best condenser mic i used for everythn
Best mic ive ever used, i will pick up a comment that i made on a YT CHANNEL (Its not recorded with the mic, and also, i bought it, sounds even better than at2020 + blue yeti... 192khz 24bit, crazy quality and configurations, using it on a desktop and s23U works really well with all modes, even thought about doing ASMR, and i had a really bad quality mic stand, even that crappy stand could hold it without having any problems, im using the lyra mostly for VIDEO (TURORIAL RECORDING) and gaming + voip chatting (discord, teamspeak, Skype, zoom, teams meets etc.) really great, plenty room for configurations and if you want a real plug-and-play mic, that's the way. Works for every type of recording and audio style.)

Feels horrible, doesn't sound great.
This is not a particularly great product. First up is the material choice, which is weak flimsy plastic that feels horrible. The controls are also particularly cheap and nasty. Second up is the sound. This is not great. The mic picks up noise from all directions and somehow exaggerates the background sound. Set the mic gain right down, and it is still a noisy mic. You also need to be aware that it picks up every tiny little sound through its fragile stand. Given that there is always some noise coming from a PC, with fans, etc. then you need to be aware that this will be the major sound that is recorded. You will need to gate and EQ this out. This is a far less capable mic than many, and I have to say that it's not worth the money.

It's made by the same company that created the 414 microphone. This entry level mic to use for both podcasting & recording vocals such as rap & poetry. I wouldn't recommend using it for singing though. Easy to setup. Just plug into your computers usb jack & most DAWs will recognize it without any additional software.

I just bought my new LYRA for my Mac Mini Intel (2018) running Big Sur 11.6 and my iPad Pro 12.9 (2018). Both work flawlessly once I plug in and connect with the right USB cable. The sound quality is very nice, high quality, reflecting my voice character. The mute button also works well with a pinkish indicator light. I have ponder back and forth before making the purchase coz' been reading lots of uncertain reviews about incompatibility with macOS Big Sur. I'm it turns out working perfectly here.
