Yamaha DM5C 48-Channel Digital Mixing Console
Description
When a production needs the channel count and processing of a full professional console but the footprint has to stay compact, the Yamaha DM5C digital mixer console brings those priorities together without compromising the workflow. Built on the proven DM7 engine, the DM5C provides 48 input channels, 24 mix buses, 12 matrices, 13 touch-sensitive motorized faders and audio operation at up to 96kHz in a single-bay design weighing 29.5 lb. A 13.3" multi-touch main display works alongside a 4.3" multi-touch utility display and touch-sensitive Selected Channel controls for direct operation. Sixteen analog inputs, 16 analog outputs, 64x64 Dante networking and an 18x18 USB-to-host interface support substantial system connectivity. Designed for live sound, corporate AV, broadcast and theater, the DM5C combines compact portability with the processing and expansion capabilities of Yamaha’s larger professional mixing systems.
DM7 Architecture Brings Proven Power to a Compact Console
The DM5C shares its core engine, firmware and editor environment with the DM7 Series, enabling show-file transfers between the two platforms and providing a consistent workflow across Yamaha DM systems. Its 48-channel architecture includes 24 mix buses, 12 matrices, a stereo bus and a cue bus for managing complex productions from a compact surface. Signal delay remains below 1.5ms from input to OMNI OUT at 96kHz, while 16 onboard FX Rack slots provide extensive processing directly within the console.
Optional Expansion Adds Premium RIVAGE Processing
The DM5C incorporates effects and signal-processing capabilities derived from Yamaha’s DM7 and flagship RIVAGE PM Series consoles. A dedicated PY expansion slot supports optional cards that extend the console’s processing or system functionality. Adding the optional PY-DSP card provides access to Premium Rack processing inherited from the DM7 and RIVAGE PM Series. This scalable architecture allows engineers to configure the console for current production needs while retaining room to expand its processing capabilities as requirements change.
Dual Touch Displays Keep Critical Controls Within Reach
A 13.3" multi-touch display provides a spacious workspace for navigating channels, routing and processing, while a dedicated 4.3" multi-touch display keeps additional functions readily accessible. The main display offers four adjustable angle settings to reduce glare and improve visibility in outdoor or unconventional mixing positions. Thirteen 100 mm touch-sensitive motorized faders—12 channel faders and one master fader—provide precise physical control with 1,024-step resolution, while touch-sensitive knobs in the Selected Channel section place essential parameters under the engineer’s hands.
Networked I/O and Software Support Expand the System
Built-in 64x64 Dante networking allows the DM5C to integrate with Yamaha RPio and Rio stage boxes, RUio utility I/O units and other Dante-enabled equipment. An 18x18 USB-to-host interface supports computer-based recording and playback, while the included Steinberg Nuendo Live and VST Rack Elements software extends recording and plug-in workflows around the console. Optional DEK-BR and DEK-TH software licenses add specialized feature sets for broadcast and theater, allowing the same hardware platform to serve different professional production environments.
Professional Mixing Power Designed to Travel
The DM5C condenses Yamaha’s professional mixing technology into a single-bay chassis measuring 17.5" wide by 9.3" high by 17.3" deep, including its rubber feet. Its durable 29.5 lb. construction supports touring, flyable systems, temporary productions and control positions where space is limited. An optional RK5 rackmount kit provides another installation option, while the included dust cover helps protect the console between uses. With DM7 show-file compatibility, expandable processing, Dante networking and a compact control surface, the Yamaha DM5C provides substantial mixing capability without requiring a large-format console.
