When you're looking for a premium pair of headphones, Ultrasone is one of the first names that should come to mind. They're some of the most respected cans in the industry, and once you've heard them, it's easy to understand why. Ultrasone also has a good reputation as an innovator, with all of their headphones including the home-brewed Ultra Low Emission (ULE) technology, a system that limits the effect of magnetic fields which all headphones naturally produce. Ultrasone's studio-oriented line is the PRO series. Starting from the PRO 550, these are closed-back headphones with detachable cables and earpads. You get spares of each along with the cans, as well as a carry case—and the headphones are foldable, so they're easy to transport. All of the PRO series feature 50mm drivers powered by Ultrasone's "S-Logic" surround sound system, which can render direction and distance in the sound to create a whole-room soundstage. S-Logic also allows lower sound pressures even at higher volumes, which makes the headphones easier on the ears so you can listen for hours without tiring them out. The PRO 750 model ups the ante with titanium-plated drivers and velvet earpads, while the PRO 900 tops the list with the addition of S-Logic Plus, an advanced version of the standard system that aims to create the most neutral, universally responsive soundstage possible. For DJs, Ultrasone offers the DJ1 and DJ1 PRO. These foldable headphones also come with S-Logic and ULE, as well as a lightweight and comfortable fit for extended sessions at the club. Their 50mm Mylar drivers have closed backs to cancel outside noise, and the black and white color scheme isn't just for show—it's also easy to spot under the black UV lights of a nightclub. The PRO version of the DJ1 bundles in two coiled cords (one with volume control and stereo/mono switch), a spare pair of speed-switch earpads and a rigid travel case. If you're a recreational listener not necessarily concerned with professional use, you might prefer the casual-oriented HFI series. These headphones are tuned for home applications like watching movies, gaming and listening to music leisurely. The HFI-450 is an affordable entry point into Ultrasone's lineup, using the standard S-Logic system, while the HFI-780 is a premium set that comes loaded with the same S-Logic Plus tech that's in the PRO 900s. No matter whether you're an audiophile, a DJ or a career audio professional, Ultrasone has a few options to choose from in each segment. Take your time to decide which pair of headphones is right for you, and you'll be rocking them with your favorite tunes from the moment they're in your hands.
