Simmons Titan 75 Electronic Drum Kit

Good sound right out the box through my PA system. More than enough pre loaded solid drum kits. I've yet to tweek any of them. 12 inch snare on a stand sets this kit apart from others around this price range. You definitely get bang for your buck. Bravo, Simmons!

Bought this set (on sale for Black Friday) for my son who is a beginner on drums, and I have never played an instrument myself. Initial impressions from that perspective are very good. We played around the sets they had on the floor of our GC before buying this set without playing it which happened to be an Alessis Strata Prime, Roland 316 and 516 which could have set my son up for a big disappointment in comparison but fortunately the Simmons stood up to the test! Pros so far: -rack is solid as are all the connections to it, connections all seem infinitely adjustable - height, angles of everything are easy to mess with and awesome they built in cable management! -large snare on a stand makes it feel like some of the more expensive sets we saw on the floor at our local GC -love all the variety of drums available on the module -app was very easy to connect between iPad and drum and slick UI -many settings you can configure about each kit, could probably spend hours tailoring it exactly how you want -love that the sounds vary nicely depending on how hard you hit any of the components -like how there are different sounds for the rims and drums -like the built in practice components like some sample songs to play to and the metronome -very nice that the hit hat pedal and kick stand have built in teeth to bite into a carpet or mat to keep them from moving, cool touch -assembly was straightforward, never had an IKEA "this is never going to fit here / go together" moment -Connected easily to Simmons DA2108 amp we also bought via mono 1/4inch cable (not included) and sounds great on that as well as the headphones (Tascam200x) we bought Cons: -As I knew before I bought, hi hat didn't sound loud enough to begin with so you go into the "mix" setting, choose the hi hat and set the volume to 127 (and make sure to do this both with and without the pedal down). -He was using the melodics free trial and it wasn't always registering his "closed" hits but we think that was also because we did not have a rug down yet at the time to latch the pedals onto. -it feels harder than it should be to adjust the various components of the hit hat (which I read is always the low point on most edrums anyway) in the app compared to all other components. Maybe just making the various states in the app more visible / larger and easier to choose between would help -I am betting trying to get half open / closed hits on the hi hat will be very hard because the pedal does not have that much range overall but need to really set aside some time to play with the settings when my sons taking a break, like perhaps theshold and sensitivity of the pedal, to see if that changes things. -Cymbals work great in practice by when I was putting the kit together initially were the only component that I looked at and thought "these look small / cheap" compared to what I thought from the product pictures online. I know there are upgrades made by Simmons available for those (MC series! but once he played on them and I heard the sounds I had less concern about them. Overall: Very happy with this set and the fact after playing the Roland's and Alessis's several times at GC in the past month that were 3-5x the (sale) price my son did not seem disappointed at all by the sounds and feel by this set I think itself speaks volumes. Giving it a 5 star for overall value but it would be a 4 star without the value because I would love if for the same price it came with one of those moving high hats on a stand some of the very expensive kits have (of course I know that's part of why the are expensive though!)

Overall, we're really happy with this electronic drum kit. The sound quality is excellent, and the build quality feels solid, and there's lots of fine tuning you can do to each and every drum. The mesh on the heads is responsive and quiet. The cymbals aren't too big, so you can arrange them pretty much however you see fit around the kit. It's been great for practice and playing along with music. The sound is pretty realistic. The interface for selecting sounds and adjusting settings make sense, but the display is a little small. The navigation leads to a bit of scrolling through all the options to get things just right. Once or twice when hitting a drum too hard, we have noticed it trigger an adjacent drum pad. The volume is good for practice and playing along with tracks, though we'd love just a bit more output power for those times when you really want to crank it up. Despite these small points, this is a high-quality kit that we'd recommend!
