Bad Idea.2

I sold some Poplar wood drums to get some Maple Gretsch's. I spent virtually all the money i had on the drums. All the money I had left was used to by a Tama Iron Cobra (WELL worth the money!), all new Evans Heads all over the kit, and a used A Custom Crash. I realized having sold my Hi Hat stand (that i thought was trash) I would need a new one. I bought this with barely change to spare. I get home, unwrap it, and it has a lot of friction within the tubular construction. I thought, being the optimist I am, that being a cheap model it would take time to break in. Here I am 2 whole months later... NO IMPROVEMENT. I can still barely ope the hi hat within the groove.

  • Affordable but would step up $20-$30 for something better

I bought this to go with a Roland VH11. I went to exchange it for a different brand and model because I needed something with rotating support legs. I was in a tight space and the legs unable to rotate heavily reduced my options. This PD HH stand seemed OK otherwise but when I stepped up $15 (normally $30 but got my upgrade on labor day pricing) not only did I get a HH stand with rotating legs and adjustable tension, but the response of the hi-hat opening and closing was night and day difference. I was struggling with this PD stand and my new stand from another brand the open and closes with so nice. Doing foot splashes so much easier. Even if you're a beginner I recommend something $20-$30 more it will be worth it. Going from this HH stand to a slightly more expensive stand I felt like my hi-hat stand skill instantly went up 15 levels. I would avoid this even as just to get started stand, just save up another $20 and go up a level.

I got my drum kit about 2 years ago it was pretty cheap ,so as you expect things break. Yesterday my hi hat stand broke and it was useless. Today I went and got this stand and went to set it up. I noticed that the foot pedal was not lifting up the hi hats. I messed around with it for about an hour or so and decided that it was no good. So, do not buy this and buy some other hi hat stand that's worth your money.

  • Great beginner hi hat stand!

I'm a child drummer. This is the first hi hat stand I've ever gotten. Overall, I think it's pretty good quality. I haven't had the stand for that long, and the rod is starting to become a little squeaky.

I guess I got what I paid for, the sensitivity of this stand is not good, mostly it has too much friction (even hysteresis) getting back to the open position. it is stable but the open close operation is not satisfactory.
