The 1 mm steel shell responds with immediate attack and forward projection, giving rimshots and accents strong presence in live and studio environments. Meanwhile, the 45-degree bearing edges maintain consistent head contact, supporting stable tuning and controlled response across dynamic playing styles. As intensity increases, the drum retains clarity and articulation, allowing ghost notes, backbeats and accents to remain defined in the mix.

Spectrum Vacuum-Coated Finish Enhances Durability and Visual Impact

The Spectrum finish is created using a vacuum coating process that deposits ultra-thin layers of material onto the shell surface. This method enhances durability while maintaining the shell’s natural resonance. The vacuum-coated finish also resists corrosion and wear, helping the drum maintain its appearance through regular use and transport. Born out of Southern California’s underground custom drum scene, Orange County Drum & Percussion became one of the most recognizable boutique drum builders of the 1990s and early 2000s. Known for bold finishes, distinctive hardware and kits built for drummers who wanted to stand out on stage, OCDP earned a loyal following among influential artists across rock and alternative music, including 311, Blink-182, Limp Bizkit, Foo Fighters, NOFX, Slipknot and The Offspring. Now relaunched by Guitar Center to coincide with the brand’s 35th anniversary, OCDP returns with a product lineup inspired by its original custom shop designs while introducing updated builds for today’s drummers. Guided by founder Daniel Jensen and longtime OCDP artist Adrian Young of No Doubt, the new collection carries forward the visual identity and stage-driven attitude that defined the brand, reimagined for a new generation of drummers.
