THD

Description

The THD 2-12 Extension Cabinet is the key to the magic between your fingers and your ears. Delivering a sound that is deep, smooth, clear, focused, and sweet, this cabinet truly is a vital element for improving the tone chain.

The Ported Extension Cab is a bass-reflex design cabinet with a slot-port in the rear instead of the more common tube port in the front. Unlike a tube-port, there is no chance of "whistling" through the slot-port in THD's cabinets. The slot-port being shallow, but wide, gives a lot of rear projection and a more open, 3-D sound similar to an open back cab, with a dramatically fuller, tighter bottom end.

THD's cabinets are constructed from 3/4" 9-ply birch with 1/2" birch ply baffle and rear panels. The corners are finger jointed for strength and rigidity and the speaker baffle is dadoed into the sides to make a remarkably strong and durable cabinet. To eliminate noise found in other handles, THD uses steel inset handles that are remarkably strong and do not rattle. Other components of the cabinet such as Switchcraft jacks are utilized because they provide a better connection to your speaker plug and steel jack dishes because they cannot break or push through.

Inside, the speakers are wired with Belden wire, an industry standard that is very high quality, sounds great, and lasts a lifetime. Also featured on the cabinet's exterior are nickel-plated steel corners to deflect blows and large cast rubber feet that serve to reduce vibrations.

THD has designed a full sounding, lightweight 2x12 speaker cabinet that can rival a 4x12 in volume, power, and projection. It has a tight, clean, focused sound that's not the least bit harsh, brash, or tubby.

From an amazing vintage shimmer, to a tight modern sound, the THD 2-12 Extension Speaker Cabinet can offer you the elusive tone you've been searching for.

  • The Best Amp Cabinet Ever Made

Where does one start? First, I have been in the music game a long time. The Holy Grail of amps is a vintage VOX AC30. Who has $10K to buy one, if you can find one. I've owned Marshall, Peavey, Bogner, Mesa Boogie, Rivera, Carr, Fender and recent VOX's. This amp cab is a game changer in a way that you cannot appreciate without testing one out (along with the magical amp heads made by the same company.) The build quality is akin to owning a new BMW. Every detail just shines, and it's built to last! The weight is very manageable. The speaker set up, with the two variations of Celestions, is inspired, and along with the cab design, make for an amp sound that is really tight, exceedingly expressive, and capable of articulating sounds that are not muddied, colored, or just the usual growl or over-the-top boom box. This is an amp cab for those who want to actually hear what their guitar sounds like before you engage a stomp box pedal, and a cab that can articulate notes like nothing ever built before in the history of live music. I run a 1960 Les Paul Jr. through mine, and the sound is jaw dropping. I can draw out the most obscure sounds from the guitar, that are lost on all other amps. The first night I played it, I found myself doing the lead riff on Stairway to Heaven. It was spot on. That was just for kicks and giggles. I've spend thousands of dollars swapping amps in and out to get one that could play the full range of contemporary music, but especially one that could appropriately express the tonality of a good vintage instrument. Now, I have found the Holy Grail, and it isn't VOX! It's an American manufactured, green-design, amp cab that will blow you out of your socks, and beg for more hours in the day to hear sounds that it can produce. If you care about tone--I mean, you "live for tone," your search is over. Buy this amp, and thank me later. THD is the best America has to offer, and it smokes the competition, both foreign and domestic. Always feels good to know that America can still rule the world, even in the music business!

I just received my paisley covered THD 212 cab today and absolutely love it! I have'nt put thru all the paces with my rigs yet but with just one rig (Boss GT10 thru a Carvin power amp) I have found the sound just sweet! I will test it with my Marshall JVM 410H when I get it back from a repair job. I will also try it thru a Line 6 DT50 head which is pre-ordered(waiting patiently) ; and my HD500 which is coming tomorrow. I am just so excited at the tone this cab produces, I thought I would brag about it. I also will test it with my Band. I am quite sure the cab will sound stellar no matter what I run it thru. I used to own a black tolexed one back in the '90s which was ok but this one has some kind of magic tone to it! I love the color and it just sounds so balanced, organic, and woody to me. Certainly the best portable guitar speaker cabinet I have purchased in a long time! A real gem.
