Sequential

Description

Few instruments have shaped the sound of modern music as profoundly as the Prophet-5. From late-’70s studios to today’s stages, its unmistakable analog voice has defined entire genres and generations of players. The Sequential Prophet-5 desktop module brings that legacy into a compact, studio-friendly format, capturing the character of all three original Prophet-5 revisions while adding modern reliability and expressive control. By combining authentic Curtis analog VCOs, switchable vintage filter designs and hands-on, knob-per-function control, this desktop module delivers the same muscular, organic tone that made the original a legend—now built for contemporary workflows and real-world use.

Authentic Prophet-5 Revisions in One Instrument

At the heart of the Prophet-5 is its ability to faithfully recreate the sound and response of Prophet-5 Rev1, Rev2 and Rev3 models. A dedicated Rev switch lets you move between the Rossum-designed 2140-style filter associated with the earliest instruments and the Curtis CEM 3320 filter used in later revisions, while also adjusting envelope behavior to match each era. The result is not a generic analog poly synth but a precise recreation of the subtle differences players associate with each generation of the Prophet-5, from raw and unruly to focused and punchy.

Vintage Knob Brings Analog Imperfection to Life

Part of what made early Prophet-5s feel alive was inconsistency—tiny variations in oscillators, envelopes and filters that created warmth and motion. The Vintage knob puts that character under your control. Dial in a stable, modern response or introduce increasing amounts of voice-to-voice variation modeled after early Prophet units. It is an elegant way to move from polished studio tones to animated, old-school textures without sacrificing tuning stability or usability.

Poly Mod and Unison for Classic and Aggressive Sounds

The Prophet-5 desktop module includes the original Poly Mod architecture that defined so many iconic sounds. Using the filter envelope and Oscillator B as modulation sources, you can drive Oscillator A frequency, pulse width and filter cutoff into harmonically rich territory that goes far beyond simple subtractive synthesis. Enhanced Unison mode expands creative range even further, allowing adjustable voice counts, variable detuning, chord memory and glide that works both in and out of Unison for massive leads and stacked bass lines.

Modern Expressiveness Meets Hands-On Control

While staying true to the original design, Sequential added performance features that modern players expect. Velocity sensitivity and aftertouch open up dynamic control over filter sweeps, modulation depth and volume changes, making the instrument respond naturally to your playing style. The front panel remains strictly knob-per-function, with a live panel mode that ensures what you see is exactly what you hear, encouraging exploration without menu diving or hidden parameters.

A Legendary Sound Reimagined for Today’s Studios

Housed in a rugged steel enclosure with black walnut trim, the Prophet-5 desktop module is built for serious studio and stage environments. Comprehensive connectivity includes MIDI, USB MIDI, CV and gate I/O, along with expression pedal inputs for filter cutoff and volume. With optional voice expansion, the instrument can grow into a 10-voice, bi-timbral setup capable of layered textures or split performance zones, making it adaptable to evolving setups and creative demands. The Sequential Prophet-5 delivers the unmistakable sound that defined an era, without compromising on reliability, flexibility or workflow.

This is very convenient for my set up since I don't have much space. The sounds from this thing without processing are phenomenal. I am still learning all of the functions but what's amazing is that it is simple but complex. The bass sounds that are generated are amazing as well.
