Open Box Ovation VXT Hybrid Guitar Level 1 Black

I have had a black VXT for about a year and a half now. I named her Pearl, she is a black beauty. I use this for my main gigging axe, the smooth transition between acoustic and electric is right on the money. The sweet set-up I like is to plug straight into the PA for acoustic work, and plug the other end of the Y cord into a tube amp. The fishman powerbridge and built-in preamp sound nice on the acoustic side, good volume with no feedback. Then you twist the 3rd knob over to the Seymour Duncans and rock a lead though your favorite tube amp. I use a Valve Jr. All in all I think this one is a keeper. Got it from my local Guitar Center in Evansville, IN. Those guys are always helpful, and let me try it to my hearts content before I bought it. Get you one, it is a fine American made guitar, and well worth the money.

This guitar is absolutely amazing. Looking at it I was wondering what does an acoustic-electric Hybrid sound like. My friend in Kentucky made me a video displaying this puppy, and playing a few tunes on it. It is awesome it can go from heavy distorted rock, all the way down to an acoustic tone all with a few turns of a knob. I highly recomend this to anyone who wants to go on stage and only have to worry about using 1 guitar. This machine is a must!!

When I purchased this guitar I was sceptical because I had previously owned an Ovation Electric and it was like playing a brick. I must say that after playing this instrument for a couple of weeks I am thoroughly impressed. I am a gigging musician and usually have 4-5 guitars on stage with me. Yes, that;s right, 4-5. We play an ecclectic variation of tunes so I wanted something that would rock both worlds, and this is the axe that does it all, or most of it anyway. I still go to my Gibson Standard Les Paul for the heavier stuff but this guitar is one of the sweetest I've heard. I play it through aFender Hot Rod DeVille 40 watter and this thing soars above almost all the rest out there. Way to go Ovation! I would highly recommend this to anyone.

The only reason I didn't buy this guitar is because I am gigging as a solo acoustic guitar player and I need a better acoustic sound (I own an Ovation Elite 1778T which to my ears is the best sounding acoustic rock guitar out there). If I was gigging with an electric band, however, I would have bought the VXT for sure. This guitar is great for a minimalist like me who would love the convenience of playing acoustic guitar songs in the middle of an electric set without having to change guitars. But if you're focusing on the acoustic sound, do yourself a favor and spend half the money and get twice the acoustic sound. I did A/B testing with the 1778, and you can't compare with the higher end real thing. But if you're an electric player who doesn't like having to play acoustic songs on an electric, this is like an answered prayer. It really does sound like an acoustic! Do A/B testing with a lower or middle range Ovation (I only A/B tested it with mine) and you'll find that the acoustic sound does NOT sound like a simulator. It really does sound like the real thing. I totally recommend it to any guitarist looking for both sounds, who doesn't require a higher end acoustic sound.

Walked into Guitar Center and saw sharp black axe with Seymour 59's but with an Ovation head stock and did a double take. Plugged it into a monster Crate amp and the acoustic sound side floored me. As a Parker Fly fan with lots of miles on my hardtail, I was amazed. Took it home and used pedals and finally found using the Roland VG88 w/o Midi was the thing. Never knew so many ways to cruch and wail Gary Moore's Still Got the Blues. Do not do anything to the acoustic side--set your amp flat with a tad of reverb--it is boss as it is. The Fishman sparks are like the Aura but all done for you. I like it in the Crate CA60 amp. Watch the wail on the Duncans but that is part of their charm. I love this guitar, I picked one up today, my friends dad set me up with a sweet deal, since he was demoing them at the store today. My guitar center only got two, a suburst and an all black. Both sounded amazing, one had my name on it, and will forever. Best sound and tone I have ever heard. Has an amazing neck, amazing light body. And tone that will blow ur ears away.
