A great Uke for a great price

I went ukulele shopping a few months ago and I decided to take a look in guitar center. When I checked out the ukes the guy took out this beautiful uke from a box unwrapped it and I was like "that's the nicest design i've ever seen on a uke." The ukulele sounds really nice, a very full tone. I later went and compared it to a Koa wood at Ted Brown's. The lanikai koa wood was just a tiny bit better, but it was $250! So I stuck with the mitchell and I'm not disappointed

Great, but not below the 10th Fret

After playing ukulele for a few months with the beginner $40 ukulele I decided to take it to the next level and get a decent ukulele. I saw this one in the store and loved its appearance and bought it. It worked great. It is also very durable. But when I began to learn songs that when higher on the neck above the 10th it was hard to hold chord due to the strings being so far from the fret board. If you are a beginner and want a ukulele to play simple songs near the top of the fret board then this is a good ukulele for you. IF you are a player that wants to really advance and learn difficult songs I would not by this uke. I personally suggest saving up a little longer and getting the Cordoba 20TM-CE for $199. It has a great sound both electrically and acoustically(this is also electric, not just acoustic like the Mitchell above) and holds chords and notes great below the 10th fret. It also has a skinnier neck so it is easier to hold chords. I personally thought the Mitchell had too fat of a neck. Its a great uke, but I would suggest the cordoba.

    I personally love it. I'm giving it to my grandson for Christmas, I know Logan will love it. Logan already has 3 guitars & drums at 8 yrs. old. I've bought many things in this Cherry Hill store.

    My 8 year old daughter is a very talented musician and singer, having learned to play ukulele at a very young age and performing songs that she's written for crowds of 500+. She bought this ukulele with money that she received for her birthday and it is beautiful - very nice glossy finish with inlay around the sound hole and outer edge of the top. When she bought this one, she already had 5 other ukuleles and I honestly believe they ALL (even the cheap ones) sound better than this Mitchell! If you want to spend a lot of $$ for something pretty to hang on the wall, then this one is for you. If you are interested in tone, volume and overall sound - buy something else!

    Really well put together. Construction and fit and finish is just perfect. Really attractive lil uke. That said, since the design is much more guitar-like, don't expect it to play like a traditional ukulele. The tone, and especially the projection are quite different. However, it is really nice in it's own way. Tuning is super stable.
