Description

The MXR Super Badass Distortion gives guitarists a palette of grit and grind. Designed by MXR's award-winning Custom Badass team, the Super Badass offers fully analog tone-shaping control. With its highly responsive Distortion knob, the Super Badass covers low-gain '70s overdrive, modern scooped metal and every shade of dirt between. Once you've dialed in your desired crunch, use the Bass, Mid and Treble knobs to sculpt your sound.

Responsive Controls

The Super Badass Distortion's distortion control reacts sensitively to your guitar's pickups and playing dynamics. Roll the knob clockwise for increasing distortion, from light overdrive to saturated metal tones. The active bass, mid and treble controls allow +/- 15dB of adjustment so you can boost or cut frequencies as needed for your ideal distortion tone.

Road-Ready and Gig-Tough

The Super Badass Distortion features true bypass switching and MXR's signature rugged components and housing. It's ready to handle the rigors of the road and the energy of live performance night after night. Powered by a 9-volt battery or Dunlop ECB003 AC adapter, the M75 Super Badass Distortion brings decades of analog expertise in a pedalboard-friendly stompbox.

The Best All Around Stompbox Out There!

Let me start by saying I generally prefer the sound of amp distortion over a pedal. But having said that, I don't always have the option of lugging around my own amps and have to settle for using rented, borrowed or club equipment. So I needed something to get me close to my own tone when those situations arose. This pedal is the solution to all your distorted needs! It's the most versatile and most controllable pedal on the market...PERIOD!!!! Whatever you're looking for this thing will give you. If you want a little gritty overdrive for blues...done! If you want a creamy distortion for classic rock...done!! If you want balls out crunch for metal...done!! This thing does is all, and it does it very well! And all for under $100? How can you go wrong? You really can't! Buy This!!!

Good but I like the Plexi better

I compared this to the Plexitone by Carl Martin through a Fender Bassbreaker 15 combo. The two pedals are very close to the same thing. The Super BA is slightly tighter, a little more modern sounding while the Plexi is just that - more Plexi, with better note articulation from the high strings. The Super BA slightly darkens the higher notes when playing chords. The Super BA is very transparent but does color your tone just a tad with the drive knob all the way down while the Plexi is not, with the drive knob all the way down you still realize some drive in your tone but not so much any real alteration to your original tone. Both have great sustain and harmonic response (the BA may be a bit better) but what got me was when I started playing leads with my Flashback delay on. For some reason with the delay engaged (through the loop) the Super BA experiences note loss, or dropout!?!!? WTH!?!?! Both pedals can be pushed through a clean or dirty channel for boosting lead. I liked the modern-esc vibe from the BA but went with the Plexi because of the issues with note drop out through the delay. For the most part my Fender creates the exact tone as delivered from the Plexi but from the tube drive which thicker and fuller - really nice. For modern distortion (metal) I'll be trying the MXR Fullbore Metal.

    I'm plugging this pedal directly into the input of a Marshall DSL 40. I have an mxr 10 band EQ, a boss rv-6, and a noise gate in my effects loop. The pedal sounds bad ass through this setup. I've played it with the effects loop both on and off and this thing delivers either way. Great pedal for 80s metal

    This pedal is very versatile with the inclusion of the EQ. This allows one to dial in their preferred tone. The build quality is excellent and the range of distortion will allow for infinite possibilities.

    Cleans up nicely for rhythm sounds. Able to fatten up single coil guitars when needed. Gives a nice full sound for early V. H. tones. Think late seventies / early eighties Scorpions' Blackout, Judas Priest's Screaming for Vengeance, Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind. With the mid boost switch engaged. It makes a pleasant alternative to using a Tube Screamer.

    I bought this pedal in November 2013 and it has been my overall main ever since. It has never once malfunctioned and has been extremely consistent in its sound. Highly recommended if you want a versatile sound. Used with Line 6 Spider, Acoustic G120 dsp, and Marshall Origin 50 with a Les Paul up front. Punk/Metal/Blues/Classic Rock My personal favorite setting Bass 4 Mid 4 Treb 6.5/7 Output 4.5/5 Distortion 8 Keep in mind this is a great versatile pedal and I definitely recommend it for people who are still exploring their sound or experimenting. However this pedal can fit most needs and has a great sound.

    Great pedal, it has a wide range of usable tones! I love the addition of the three tone knobs, instead of the two tones and mid sweep knob on the older model! This is my go to pedal when I need a little mph in my tone! Whether you're into blues, rock or hard rock I think you'll find some amazing tones in this pedal that will inspire you!
