Description

This affordable 7-string features a 26.5” scale length for better low-end articulation, a lightweight and resonant poplar body with an arched top and a bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement and scarf joint for rock-solid stability. Hosting 24 jumbo frets and piranha tooth inlays, the 12”-16” compound radius rosewood fingerboard creates the ideal playing surface for fat riffs and easy chording near the black plastic nut while gradually flattening in the upper registers for lightning-quick solos and wide bends without fear of fretting out.

Powered by direct mount dual Jackson high-output humbucking pickups, the JS22-7 DKA HT is also equipped with a three-way blade switch, single volume and tone controls, compensated string-through-body fixed Jackson HT7 bridge, sealed die-cast tuners and Jackson's 3x4 (3 over, 4 under) AT-1 headstock.

Disclaimer: I'm not a pro, just a hobbyist trying to have some fun. Leading up to the purchase, I read many good reviews about this guitar, so I was not totally surprised when I got the guitar and started playing with it. I've never played a 7 strings, so thought this would justify my experimentation with a 7 strings, for the money spent (I did get a 15% discount, so did not even pay full price). Out of the box, the guitar is well worth that money. I'm so glad that the neck is straight and the frets were leveled correctly. Those things allowed me to do my own setup, and got the action down pretty low. Honestly, I'm not going to perform on stage with this guitar, so even the pickups sounds just fine to me. The looks, the build quality are very good for the price. What I'm surprised about was how easy it is for me to adapt to the 7 strings; I couldn't be that good; it has to be the guitar. As mentioned, I did have to adjust the truss rod, lowered the string height, adjust the intonation to get it to my liking. I read one review here where a user complained that there's buzzing on the 1st fret of the 7 strings. I suspect that the truss rod is set very flat out of the factory. That was how it was for the one I received; a little adjustment to give is more relief there will probably fix that issue. Some nitpicking here: I did have to use some steel wool to smooth out the back of the neck because it seemed as though there was some sort of material sticking to the back of the neck (dry wood glue perhaps - or snot - who knows). After steel wool, the neck feels really nice to play. In general, the fret ends were well manicured; I did have to use a small file to clean up a couple of spots. Also remember to stretch out the strings Overall, this is a really good guitar for someone who wants to try a 7 strings. You really cannot go wrong with this pricepoint. Totally recommend. I would have given 4.5 stars, but there's no 0.5. I'm just stingy when it comes to 5 stars.

So initially going into this purchase I knew I was getting the lowest priced 7 string that has some relatively great reviews on Youtube. My whole thing was if it feels nice to play I would mod it. I have some bareknuckle pickups, an old hipshot bridge that I have from a prior build that could go into this. However, upon delivery I noticed the fretboard was cracked big time at the base of the neck, the nut had sharp burrs all over it, poorly cut and the nut was slanted rather then placed on correctly. The fretboard had excessive glue all over it as well, and the neck after measuring was not on straight. These weren't issues I was expecting. I knew the hardware wasn't going to be amazing but this is on another level. How this ever left the factory is beyond me.

    Been playing guitar for 14 years. And I've been playing this guitar for a 2 years now. Despite having a few guitars this is my preferred guitar, while also being the cheapest. I had to do some work to get it where I liked it though. The fret edges were sharp and cut my hands at first. Took a metal file to them and carefully filed them to be smooth with the wood. Mine came looking beautiful and clean. It has a super mellow tone that I love. Gets a little buzz while playing certain low notes but it's super comfortable to play and I'm genuinely happy to pick it up now.

    This is the worst guitar I've ever bought out of the box the three-way selector switch was damaged I had to purchase a new one and have it installed by Sam Ash because guitar Center is refused to help me on it, the pick ups sound horrible and it doesn't stay in tune for anything you would be better off saving your money buying a GRG from Ibanez or an LTD at the same price range which is crafted way better sounds in place way better

    The Jackson Case for Soloist or Dinky Electric Guitar would be the best choice. Or the Jackson Multifit Electric Guitar Gig Bag for Dinky and Soloist would be a good choice. This guitar would work well with any electric guitar strings.
