Description

Deering's Goodtime Piezo banjo brings players the best of both worlds. It features premium, American-made components and tonewoods for authentic banjo sound, now with the added benefit of an onboard piezo pickup to amplify your playing. The Goodtime Piezo banjo has a maple rim and neck for a crisp, balanced tone. Its 11" frosted top banjo head produces a bright, ringing sound. For playability, it has a slender rock maple neck and geared tuners that make it easy to tune and keep in tune.

Fast, Comfortable Maple Neck

The Goodtime Piezo banjo's rock maple neck is ideal for playability. It has a slender, rounded profile that fits comfortably in the hand. 22 nickel/silver frets are evenly spaced along its 26-1/2" scale length. With a 1-1/4" nut width, the neck is sized for comfortable fretting. The satin finish provides smooth playability up and down the neck.

Keeps You in Tune and Sounding Great

Deering outfitted the Goodtime Piezo banjo with features to keep it performing at its best. Geared tuners make it easy to tune the strings accurately and securely. An adjustable truss rod allows you to tweak the neck relief for ideal string action. 16 bracket hooks and a steel coordinator rod enable precise head tensioning so notes ring out clearly. With quality craftsmanship and adjustable features built in, the Goodtime Piezo banjo guarantees great sound and playability.

    This is an affordable, well built, smooth playing, and sweet sounding banjo. It is not at all fancy. the wood is sanded and seems sealed but that's about it. But it's good quality maple. No mother of pearl inlays but the neck is smooth playin' and is comfortable while giving the strings space. Also those frets are filed and flush. 16 hooks but they're steel. Not planetary machine heads but they're closed back and hold tune. Piezo pickup isn't fancy but it works very well and allows you to start recording without setting up a mic, and if you want to do a venue you're ready for an amp. Finally it has a great tone. I mean seriously for an instrument in this price range (and above), it's just a lovely sound. So yes this is an entry level Deering. But it's not really an entry level instrument. It's bare bones but those bones are high quality. You can tell this isn't an afterthought instrument for Deering. They wanted an excellent entry point. Yes you can get other banjos for less, but you will NOT regret picking this one up. Also, this is a Made in the USA instrument. Not designed. Made. How many entry levels can boast that?

    I have been playing a Deering Goodtime Two banjo for a couple of years. I love the way it plays and sounds, but it's a little tricky recording . . . the pickup helps a lot with that. Now I can get a good clean recording of the banjo track without a lot of noise mixed in, and by plugging into an amp I have more control over the volume when I'm playing with a group. The open back is lighter, otherwise they both play with the same feel. Nice banjos, I like them both a lot.

    This has become my go-to banjo now. I love the lightweight feel, great tone, and it plays easily without finger picks. A great back porch banjo. I feel it sounds good enough for gigs, but haven't really tried it in that setting. Have had many jams with others, and its sound cuts through the guitars just fine. I have not even tried the pickup and plugging it in. A lot easier to carry around than my heavy resonator banjo. I bought a second one, its a quality instrument for the price. MADE IN USA!
