too many features!

Don't get me wrong, I like features but some didn't live up to my expectations. The good: The stand is VERY heavy duty and can easily hold 150 lbs (don't try it though!). The memory lock is a great feature but not COMPLETLY necessary as the joint holds well on it's own. The extendable basket helps in a double pedal set up and offers infinite adjustment options. The BAD!:The toothless tilter still moves even with it fully tigthened and locked. It can hold a snare stationary but playing can make it move if the basket is extended more than an inch or so. The basket can be adjusted to hold down to a 13in. snare and up to a 15in. snare. Dw does offer a contoured one (9303) for smaller snares. Overall: This is very sturdy if the basket is close to center. However it is a little pricey! I never knew how bad my old CB stand was until I used this! If your budget does not allow for this, Buy a 900 series PDP stand instead.

DW cut a few corners for such an expensive stand

I have two of these, they are both 5 years old. They are very heavy-duty, the memory locks are great, its a top notch stand except for one problem. Twice, on both stands, the tilter ratchet handle (the black spring-loaded plastic handle that lets you loosen/tighten the basket tilter so you can adjust it) has broken. This is under very light usage, once I get it set I rarely move it. The way it's made, there's just a cheap plastic piece that attaches the spring-loaded handle to the threaded portion. Its a really weak point and a really poor design. One of the stands broke last year and they replaced the handle under warranty, but they didn't change the design and now it has broken again.

    The DW 9000 series hardware is hard to beat. The snare stand is heavy duty and rock solid. I love the memory locks that take the guesswork out of setup and the extra support they provide by locking things in place. I have the cymbal stands too. Wouldn't trade 'em.

    These stands are amazing. I've toured on them for years and years, and never had to replace anything. They're probably not for sit at home players just because they're bulky and heavy, but if you need something to withstand a beating these are your guys! They hold tone on rack toms really well too, which is important for me.

    I recently acquired one of these stands, I had to own a DW 9000 series piece of hardware due to the glory these stands get. Does not live up to the hype. The snare arm is held by two circular metal pieces that get closer as you tighten the lever, much like the design on many boom cymbal stands. This is not a stable design, the arm shifts within the plates, and even moves up and down a little bit. This stand is not stable, and certainly not worth the outrageous price. I would not recommend this product to anybody.
