Open Box DW 9000 Series Double Bass Drum Pedal with eXtended Footboard Level 1

Great pedal especially if you have a big foot

Knowing what I know now, I would not buy these pedals again. I have owned these dw extended longboard double pedal for over 2 years now and overall I would say I am extremely disappointed with them. There are too many design flaws that affect this pedal which I will detail below. - Firstly, no matter what I do, the back end of the main pedal will stick up, off the floor. (Picture below) I have tried re-adjusting the height of my bass drum countless times, nothing will do. I think it's a design flaw that dw did not think off. Due to the extra length and the pedal being so light, when you attach the bass drum to it, there is too much downward force and pressure at the front end which causes the back end to rise. This may also be due in part to the height of the clamp system, (which you cannot adjust), combined with the extra length of the base plate. - Secondly and most importantly, after a while the thin aluminium base plate will start to twist causing the footboard to follow and the chain to misalign with the cam. (Picture below). You'd think dw would strengthen the aluminium base plate since they added extra length to the pedal but nope. Now because the base plate twisted slightly, the pedal is not directly under the cam which causes the chain to rub against the metal part of the cam. (Picture below). For a +600$ pedal I would HIGHLY suggest you look at other brands. I love dw, all my hardware is dw and I also own many other dw pedals, but I feel like they let me down with this one. Too many design flaws that affect the quality of the pedal. It's as if they thought "hey we need a longboard in our catalog of pedals. You over there add a long thin aluminium base plate and a long footboard and call it a day. Whatever happens, happens". If you want to buy a dw 9000 don't buy the longboard, buy the regular ones, (which I also own). You cannot go wrong with regular dw 9000.

There are amazing pedals. I know you will hear speed cobra, iron cobra, all that. But like legit: people go crazy over these 9000s. And to me: these are pearl redline pedals with cams you don't have to adjust. (Which also makes more unlimited ability. Not just red, clear, black, blue cams and that: then you gotta Order the purple and yellow cam seperate if you want those ones too. This pedal is exactly a pearl redline: which I think are underrated pedals. I find a lot of really good stuff is underrated because of the hype going on about other things obviously. Would have kept the red lines: literally had an adjustment to make the footboard longer. Everything. Had a toe thing on it so you're foot wouldn't slip foreward. Had kind of grip tape feeling screws on it. Perfect. It was just: adjusting it. That's it. I didn't like having to use cam after cam and switch them out: and they are this not good plastic material I just don't trust. Knew they would probably break: and the only cam I used was the red: it was the best. Anyway: these are pearl red lines with all the cons of the red lines taken away. Legit. Amazing pedals. Smooth af. Tension easy to adjust cam infinite ability. Perfect. The hype is real for a reason. Like with iron cobras: all different: you got the rolling glide AND THE power glide version for their newer 900 series, but the older 600 had both. It's just complicated and this one is all of them: just change your beater if u want. You like iron cobras speed cobras? Put an iron cobra beater on it. "You good" lol. DEFINETLEY like no disappointment here with anything except price.

A solidly-built double pedal with a great deal of sensitivity. Bought this machine after playing on one at a jam session recently. Looking forward to fine-tuning this machine to fit my physique and technique. I'm very happy with it so far.

First let me say that this was my max price range. I was not willing to spend $800+ on a pedal. I did a ton of research shopping for pedals before purchasing this pedal. I paid specific attention to the comments from people who use them all the time and take them on the road. Many of the other pedals had issues with adjustments and striped screws making the pedal useless. This is a great pedal and the extended footboard is nice. It's the exact same price as the original so why not have the extract surface to play with. The infinite cam is my favorite. You don't have to swap out cams, just use the drum key that comes with it and adjust each pedal to your liking. I didn't like the factory default the pedal was set at but it was easy to adjust. The case it comes with is nice as well. I traded in my old DW 3000 pedal for this so I got a good price. Hope this helps; enjoy!
