Please note that the Return Period for this product is 3 days.

The Martin 00042EC-Z Eric Clapton Crossroads Ziricote Auditorium Acoustic Guitar is an updated version of Eric’s popular Crossroads 000-42. This Guitar Center exclusive is limited to just 50 models worldwide and is part of the 2019 Crossroads Collection.

As with all Martin 42 series guitars, the 00042EC-Z benefits from intricate details including herringbone pearl inlays, flame maple body binding and deluxe abalone inlay on the headplate. The fit and finish are impeccable as you would expect.

But what distinguishes the 2019 Crossroads Martin 00042EC-Z from other guitars in the collection is its sound. Martin applied their Vintage Tone System to this Auditorium guitar's Sitka spruce top and Adirondack scalloped bracing. In combination with exotic ziricote for the back and sides, the result is a Clapton Signature Martin with breathtaking tone.

Other tone-enhancing features include a carbon fiber bridgeplate under the ebony bridge and liquid metal bridge pins that both contribute to resonance and sustain.

On the subject of signatures, the soundhole label for each Martin 00042EC-Z is hand-signed by CFM IV and Eric Clapton himself, making this 000-42 acoustic worthy of any Clapton fan's collection. This 2019 Crossroads guitar includes a special hardshell case.

Concerning the price of admission, Eric says: "And it's always been–I hate to say it–but it's been my experience that the proper guitars, and therefore the most expensive guitars, are always going to be the easiest ones to play. Because they're just made for playing. The motive behind the making of the guitar is 100% right. These Crossroads guitars are great. They're beautiful. They're perfect-absolutely perfect. Fantastic figuring, colors are great, the top wood is beautiful and the grain on the backs is fantastic."

This special Crossroads edition is destined to become an icon in its own right, and will be featured at the 2019 Crossroads Festival.

Imagine how pleased I was to see this guitar recently go on sale for $2000. less than what I paid. GC, that totally stinks. You should offer some price protection for unsuspecting buyers. Destroyed my inclination to ever buy anything from you again. And what's up with the three-day return restriction? I have several Martins that play better and sound better than this Crossroads 000-42. (Although I admit it's a very handsome-looking guitar. But that's hardly enough.)

The workmanship is perfect Tone is deeper and more rich than my previous 000-28 EC Feel and playability is MOST comfortable for my hands. It feels better than any other acoustic guitar The inlays and bling are work intensive and beautiful Zircote is an interesting choice for back sides. Did some research and found Zircote used on better classical guitars. Watched interview with EC. and that helped in my decision to seel my other axes to swing this wonderful 000-42 Top is torrified Sitka and it appears average in "silking" (cross grain) that I believe contributes to overtones. Those features are becoming more obvious with time and light exposure(?) Overall the neck/feel and deep rich tone are among the best Martin. It's the primary reason I pulled the trigger on this one. As players know, Neck fit and feel are relative! Heavier brace may keep this guitar from really opening up soon. I'm using a Tone Rite to break her in. It's helping to bring out the best tones. I would recommend to a friend if they are a collector/player

Although I've only had it a day I can already tell that this is a remarkable guitar. It's visually stunning and very balanced tonally. The craftsmanship is superb. The sustain seems to go on forever. I guess that's the liquid metal bridge pins. I was hoping to keep this guitar as an investment but I think I may just have to keep playing it, around the house, of course.
