Vintage tone from a substantial budget guitar

I needed a budget guitar for Praise & Worship at my church. My Tele was too twangy. I wanted a Gibson scale guitar with chrome covered humbuckers to have a smoother chord tone for clean guitar sounds. This is the only guitar in the price range that fit. I went to Guitar Center to play the AX120 to see if the pickups were going to be mellow and 'jazzy' enough. I was not disappointed. The pickups definitely have that vintage Les Paul vibe. I have owned Gibson Double Cut Les Pauls in the past, and while this AX120 is not quite as slick and refined, it comes pretty close to the tone, especially for the price. It looks great, and feels substantial; chunky neck & enough weight to the body. The NZ pine fretboard has a more purplish hue than rosewood, and isn't quite as smooth, but this is an affordable guitar, and I expect it will hold up okay. Block inlays and binding are a bonus. The tuners are good enough, but do feel a little 'soft', but I return frequently as a habit. For the money, I am very happy with this guitar. It has the smooth tone and playability I was looking for. If you are looking for a vintage sounding Gibson scale guitar, Ibanez has you covered with the AX120.

Mt new Ibanez AX 120 was delivered Fast and in pristine condition from Guitar Center. I have no complaints whatsoever. Fit and Finish excellent, Not overly heavy, comfortable to play, strings sound good out of the box. The paint job is flawless, Solid Body Tone is Excellent, Tuners stay tuned. The White Pine neck is one of the narrowest necks I've played on which has it's advantages. High E string very close to the edge of fretboard making pulloffs a bit challenging, So far I haven't found an AX 120 Ibanez Case, but I want one for when I'm forced to store it. Well done Ibanez and Guitar Center. Thank You.

Not sure it can be beat for the price. Wanted something with humbuckers to mess with and really liked the looks of the AX120 and it was on sale so grabbed one. I reset the neck in the pocket and set it up and it's become my most played guitar since I got it. Only complaint I have is it's unbalanced (neck heavy), but for the price you can't beat it.
