Description

Ibanez has a storied history in bluegrass and acoustic music. Even Bill Monroe explored the Ibanez line of mandolins way back in the 1970s. Once you hear these little 8-strings, it's not surprising.

Designed under the premiere craftsmanship of Ibanez luthiers and using fine tonewoods, this Ibanez mandolin sounds great and will stand the test of time, without a high price tag. Built in the teardrop A-style platform, the M510EDVS features mahogany for the neck, back, and sides offering a crisp attack and lasting high-end sustain-ideal for chopping away in the rhythm or for shimmering solos. The top is spruce, contributing to a balanced tone that can rise above the rhythm of the other band-mates.

The M510EDVS's magnetic pickup delivers true mandolin sound. Just plug in and pick away, with volume and tone passive controls to customize and dial in your ultimate sound. Many other appointments set this Ibanez mandolin apart, including chrome hardware and tuners, rosewood bridge and fretboard, and the dark violin sunburst finish.

Worth the money...

This is really a very pretty little mandolin forthe cost. With just a little bridge adjustment and tuning up this thing was great right out of the box. Nice construction, nice components, nice sound/tone. It falls out of tune pretty rapidly, however that may be due to the high tension of the strings. Not an expert on these critters, but overall I am very satisfied.

Very Dissapointed

I love Ibanez Guitars and Basses so I thought this mandolin would be good. There is a design flaw with the top of this mandolin. I bought it because it has an electric pickup in in which makes it easier to use on stage because you don't have to mic. it. It sounded great but the whole top collapsed. Ok guitar center replaced it and a week later the top collapsed on that one too. What I noticed is that there was no top bracing on this mandolin. The top is weak because of the cut out for the pickup plus the holes from mounting the pick guard. Well I'm not blaming Guitar Center for any of this because I've always been happy with the service I have gotten there. I decided to go with a Fishman pickup for my other mandolin. It sounds great. Hopefully Ibanez has figured out that they need to fix this design flaw because it needs to be taken care of. If they intend to make mandolins they need to bring the quality up to the standards of their guitars ans Basses.

    I needed an instrument that I could record with the plugin, and unfortunately there is a lot of fuzz, louder even than the instrument sound. If you play it acoustically, it has a warm tone and nice overall sound. I'd say the acoustic one is probably good for those that would be fine with that. If you're recording like me though, I'd say pass, this pickup is not good at all.

    I've had this guy for about two months and despite owning a couple thousand dollars guitars this mandolin is my favourite little instrument that I play most out of the day. The pickup sounds great both at emulating acoustic and electric sounds incredible sturdy and well built.

    Mandolin sounds pretty good unplugged. Finish is beautiful...pics don't do it justice. Plugged in the pickup has very low output and quite muddy. Way too much low end for an instrument known for its high end. Volume knob responds well enough for entry level instrument but tone knob doesn't do much to help muddy frequencies.

    The Ibanez M510EDVS is a great starter instrument for me. I am 72 years old and have played guitars in the past. As far as looks I like the Dark Violin Sunburst...subdued and not flashy. I replaced the tuners with Grover's and this solved the problem of the standard turners not being able to keep the instrument in tune. It did not take much to adjust the intonation as I have done so on other stringed instruments. The pickup works well and correctly amplifies the mandolin sound. I am very pleased with my purchase.
