Description
The Harmony Comet is semi-hollowbody guitar built in the historic Kalamazoo, Michigan factory, the birthplace of some of the most sought-after instruments of all time. It takes its inspiration from the H72, a "department store" guitar first introduced in 1966. Of course, it doesn't matter where you buy a guitar or how much you paid, it's the sound that counts. The H72 had it, and the Comet does, too. It's also decidedly more upscale.
The Comet has a carved mahogany top and back, contributing to a well-rounded, acoustic-like tone. The addition of a center block minimizes feedback, and the long-tenon set neck construction increases sustain. Both the body and neck are shot in old-school nitrocellulose lacquer—this guitar will age beautifully.
Harmony specs the Comet with a set of gold foil humbuckers. Custom-voiced and hand-wound, they deliver a precise, articulate sound. A push/pull master volume pot extends the tonal possibilities by engaging out-of-phase sounds.
A six-in-line headstock pays homage to the original H72's iconic look. Hardware includes locking tuners, tune-o-matic bridge and a stopbar tailpiece.
The Harmony Comet comes with a Mono Vertigo Case—a $250 value. Internal ABS panels deliver hardshell protection at a fraction of the weight, which will keep your Comet safe for years to come.
