Focusrite

Description

In modern recording environments, the signal path defines everything from initial capture to final mix. Focusrite’s ISA lineage—rooted in transformer-based studio designs—continues with the ISA C8X audio interface, a 2U rackmount system built to anchor complex sessions with clarity and control. This 26-in, 28-out USB-C audio interface combines two digitally controlled ISA preamps with six additional ultralow-noise mic channels, delivering flexible input options for full-band tracking, overdubs and hybrid workflows. High-resolution 24-bit/192kHz conversion, integrated analog tone shaping and comprehensive routing come together in a single interface designed to manage entire studio setups. Whether tracking live sessions or building layered productions, the ISA C8X interface provides a stable, recallable foundation for consistent results.

ISA Preamps and Remote Control Streamline Workflow

Two transformer-based ISA preamps sit at the core of the system, delivering up to 79dB of smooth, detailed gain with switchable impedance, balanced inserts and high-pass filtering. These channels are fully controllable from the front panel or via Focusrite Control 2, allowing engineers to adjust gain staging and routing without interrupting the session. In multiroom environments or tightly configured control rooms, remote operation becomes a major advantage, enabling consistent setups and fast recall across sessions. Once dialed in, settings remain stable, supporting long tracking days with predictable, repeatable results.

Lundahl Transformers and Expanded Mic Preamps Capture Detail

Built around Lundahl LL1538 input transformers, the ISA preamps add subtle harmonic depth and dynamic response that enhance vocals, instruments and line-level sources. Six additional mic preamps extend the system’s input capability, each designed for clean, low-noise capture with up to 69dB of gain. Together, these eight channels provide a versatile front end capable of handling everything from detailed acoustic recordings to high-SPL sources like drums and amplified instruments. The result is a balanced capture path that preserves transient detail while maintaining warmth and clarity across complex sessions.

Analog Character and Digital Control Shape Your Sound

Integrated Console and 430 Air modes allow precise tonal shaping directly within the signal path. Console mode introduces analog-style saturation and low-end weight, while 430 Air mode adds high-frequency lift inspired by classic ISA designs. These features are accessible across mic and instrument inputs, providing flexible tone control without external processing. Combined with Focusrite Control 2, engineers can adjust parameters, build routing configurations and recall session settings from desktop or mobile devices, maintaining creative momentum while keeping technical adjustments efficient and accessible.

Comprehensive I/O and Conversion Support Full Studio Setups

With 26 inputs and 28 outputs across analog and digital connections, the ISA C8X is designed to serve as the central hub of a professional studio. Fixed-gain line inputs integrate seamlessly with patchbay systems, while 12 balanced line outputs support monitoring configurations from stereo to immersive formats such as 7.1.4. ADAT, S/PDIF, MIDI and Word Clock connectivity allow expansion and synchronization with external gear, while 24-bit/192kHz AD/DA conversion delivers up to 125dB of dynamic range with ultra-low distortion. This combination of connectivity and fidelity ensures consistent performance across tracking, mixing and monitoring workflows.

An Interface Built for Modern Studio Demands

From tracking full ensembles to managing hybrid analog-digital workflows, this interface adapts to the realities of modern production environments. Independent headphone outputs, low-latency monitoring and recallable routing support efficient collaboration and fast-paced sessions, while its rackmount design integrates cleanly into permanent studio installations. Designed for engineers, producers and studios that require high channel counts, flexible control and reliable sonic performance, the Focusrite ISA C8X Audio Interface delivers a complete recording and routing solution built for professional use.
