I got this to replace a neck on a MIM precision bass, yes i prefer the jazz bass necks and a precision bass body. bolted right on without any issue. neck pocket was tiight, bolt pattern was perfect. the only issue i had was when installing the tunning machines, the pre-drilled holes were ever so slightly off. i had to drill a couple out a bit to get the tuning machines installed. the nut does need cut, so i took it to my luthier guy. so far i am thrilled with the neck. was priced right and fit great.

  • I would buy this again

I disliked the Pau Ferro fingerboard that was stock with my MIM Fender Player Series Jazz so I bought the maple fingerboard. Installation wasn't too bad, did it myself. Instructions were included and they are helpful. This neck fits MIM Player Series Fender Jazz Bass as well as Squier's so they CAN be upgraded with this best I recall. If you use the right tool, and push outward on them after removing the machine tuners, the bushings will pop out of the neck you're replacing BUT if you're like me and want to leave the neck intact for other uses you have to buy the bushings by Fender separately for this neck. [Sorry if my writing is a little choppy right now.] To summarize: Great neck. Very beautiful and FINALLY THIS WILL NOT FIT ON JAZZ BASSES MADE IN THE USA.

I used this neck to replace the old one on my DIY jazz bass. An endless improvement, I started it with medium/cheap quality components and gradually improved it. This is one big and important step to the final result.

Are the screw holes for the tuning key brackets (4 holes per tuning key) pre-drilled on the back of the headstock?

    Open Reply - Ronald
No. Since tuning keys are notorious to vary from slightly to excessively where the brackets go. A lot of times they don't even have one. So it makes it a bit more adaptable to more styles of tuning keys to not have the bracket hole pre-drilled.

Are the mounting screw holes predrilled? My '75 has the 3 screw mounting with microtilt.

    Open Reply - Ronald
No. The mounting holes aren't pre-drilled to ensure that the tuning machines can be used with the neck a lot easier.
