D'Addario

Description

Three packs of strings. Gauges: 12-16-24-32-42-53.

EXP Coated Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings provide longer life and increased durability coupled with the brightness, clarity and sensitivity you've come to expect from D'Addario strings. Here is how it works: An ultra-fine layer of EXP coating is bonded to the phosphor bronze wrap wire which is then wound onto the hex-shaped core wire.

The result is a built-in barrier against the corrosion and wear that can quickly sap the life out of your strings and your sound. And since the EXP coating is cross-linked to the wrap wire prior to winding, the strings sound fresh and bright. New-string tone lasts 3 to 4 times longer than traditional guitar strings

I have been using these strings ever since they came stock on my Breedlove acoustic I bought several years ago. I've tried other brands, but none have the same tone and feel as these. They match the tonal characteristics of my acoustic perfectly, with a nice harmonious mid range, just enough bass, and with my Ultex Sharp picks they have the perfect amount of high end sparkle without sounding thin. The biggest problem they have is the packaging. I believe they vacuum seal them, but the plastic they pack them in is way too thin, and in this 3 pack, 2/3 had strings sticking through the packaging breaking the seal, leaving them open to the air for who knows how long. I put one of the broken sealed packs on and the strings are unbelievably stiff feeling and scratchy. Tonally okay, but very uncomfortable to play. I imagine the other broken sealed package will be much the same which is unfortunate because these strings are not cheap. When I get a good pack, these strings usually last me several months as well. I think the next strings I'll have to try after these are the Ernie Ball Earthwoods, because the packaging on their electric strings has been flawless for every pack I've bought the past decade.

  • I would buy these strings again
