I like this better than my Fender MIM Jazz Bass

My wife bought me this bass for Christmas and I was skeptical at first based on my prior experience with a 1990s Squier Strat. I quickly discovered that Squier has come a long way in the last 25-30 years and the Classic Vibe series is a testament to that. I did have a problem with the wire connecting the two parts of the pickup fraying while I had taken the electronics off to put on shielding. That could be easily fixed with a soldering iron. The pickup on it sounds very good, though I have already replaced it with a Fender "Original" pickup, just as a matter of personal preference. I love the feel of the neck, which seems to be the perfect shape and size for my hands and style of playing. Don't pass this one up just because it says Squier on the head stock. The best compliment I can give is that lately I have been reaching for this bass instead of my Fender MIM Jazz Bass.

Very disappointed

Normally, my experiences with the Squier Classic Vibe lineups have been great. I own several Squier 6-string guitars - 2 CV Telecasters and a CV Strat and another bass (Affinity Jazz Bass). The Classic Vibe Teles and Strat are all excellent in quality and the Jazz Bass is also decent for that price point. This P-Bass was very disappointing however. The amount of fret sprout on the neck was absolutely ridiculous. It's literally unplayable without curtting yourself. I honestly don't know how this guitar made it off the production line and through QA. It's like this all the way up the neck and you would literally cut yourself if you tried to play it. As it is I will have to take it to a luthier to get a good fret rework on it because it's that bad. Not sure if this was just a one-off lemon or if others have experienced this. Disappointing because the other Squier CV's I own are great.

    #sweepstakes - I am very happy with my Squier Classic Vibe '60s Precision Bass. This is my first Squire and it sounds great and is well built. Classic Vibe seems to be the best line of Squire products. Setting it up to Fender specs was easy, and after adjusting the truss rod, only the G string needed adjustment for intonation. I plan to use this for home recording, and it sounds like a Fender Precision to me.

    I am learning bass guitar. This sounds great and easy to maneuver. I will change to Flat Wound strings soon; Will Sound better and less scratch noise; Flat Wound strings last longer and has a mellower sound. Nice guitar for the money.

    SHOCKINGLY close to the original. in fact YouTube is full of blindfolded shootouts between the CV and American standard models (even a $14,000 Custom Shop) and the CV hangs every time. These are a fantastic platform to mod off of if you are building out a professional custom instrument, and still great stock. Perfect way to fill out holes in a studio collection (which was what I was doing). After a good pro setup - almost indistinguishable on tape from the top of the line.
