Comfortably Designed Modern Neck

The Squier Affinity PJ Bass is made with a slim and playable neck, perfect for learning the fundamentals of bass guitar. A modern C neck profile offers a comfortable feel for most playing styles.

Two Versatile P/J Single Coils

In addition to the traditional split single-coil Precision Bass pickup included on the P Bass, the Affinity Series PJ Bass adds on an extra single-coil Jazz Bass bridge pickup. Each pickup has its own Volume control with a Master Tone to fine-tune the output.

Vintage Style Tuners

Some things are perfect just the way they are and that includes the open-gear vintage-style tuning machines on the Squier Precision PJ Bass. These open-gear tuners keep strings reliably in tune, provide easy adjustments and add an extra touch of class.

Excellent Quality

Just to be clear, I had the money to buy what ever bass I wanted….however, I bought this bass because the poplar body is lighter than the alder used in MIM and USA Fenders. This was the lightest bass I could find in the Fender/Squire line up. It was set up perfect, no fret buzz, smooth edges in the neck and the paint color is exactly what I wanted. It sounds great. I swapped out the bridge for a fender high mass with brass saddles, changed the strings to DR fat beams and I absolutely love it. I have several other basses and guitars including USA and MIM Fender instruments and this one is an undeniably great guitar. I play on a regular basis for audiences of 200+ and I love how well this bass looks and sounds. I will be swapping out the pickups and pots in the future but just because I can, not because it needs it. Tuners are fine, no issues there. I will be sanding off the Squire logo and putting something else there, something original. My advice is to try out the bass in the store and buy the one that feels right. When I bought this one I played at least 10 different basses in the store that day including some higher priced USA models. This one played and felt the best to me so I bought it and will continue to mod and make it my own.

Fit and Finish Issues

Went to my local GC and order this bass, picked it up a week later. Out of the box there was something loose and rattling around in inside under the pick guard. One of the tone controls looked a little bent and didn't turn smoothly. Brought it back for a refund because there wasn't anything similar in stock. Should have gone with Fender over Squire.

    I've been playing bass since the 70's. I've owned all kinds over the years. This bass after I set it up plays as good as any American or standard I've owned. I bought it on sale for about 225.00. Great investment and a great sounding bass. No flaws on the build or finish. I think most of the reviews sound like young beginner musicians. Great bass to learn on for the youngsters!!!!

    Ordered online with the Black Friday sale and the new online discount. Old percussionist wanting to learn bass and this has been extremely easy to pick up and play. It sounds great to my ears though either an old Ashdown Superfly driving an old single 15, or a brandnew Markbass CMB101.

    New to playing bass. Talked to friends about which one to buy. They recommended this bass. Glad I bought it because it offers many different sounds. Plus a good price. Really happy with my purchase. Now back to learning "Another One Bites The Dust" :-)

    No, we don't. Our instruments ship in factory sealed boxes. We do not set up new instruments. It will be set up by Squier.

    All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 8.5 – 9.5 lbs.
